Hilarious Top 50 prospect list

This re-ranking comes courtesy of a dozen scouting and player development executives who were polled anonymously. Each supplied their list of the top 30 prospects in all of baseball. The results were tabulated in an AP poll-type format: Any prospect listed No. 1 got 30 points, No. 2 got 29 and on down to one. The cumulative score for each player helped determine the final rankings. Each prospect's score can be seen in parentheses. Those who have moved up the list from my first rankings at the start of the season will have a green up arrow next to his name; fallers are accompanied by a red down arrow.

Translation: Scouts love Ryan Sweeney.

Delmon is a pretty damn talented player as well, but you gotta love Hernandez arm.

You can tell on the most part this is a scouts list so on the most part you see guys who project very highly. Its interesting to say the least, although there are definately parts I don't agree with.

Ie, Sweeney and no Young...pffft.

What's the problem with Felix at #2?  I see nothing wrong with that at all.

I just think this kid is ridiculous. They wont even let him throw his nastiest pitch (slider) because they dont want to risk injury.

Well being the #2 prospect in baseball indicates he is pretty ridiculous. Saying he should be #1 over Delmon Young is like saying you like apples better than oranges, but you really like both. They are both elite players. One man's opinion over whether to rate a position player higher than a pitcher shouldn't raise anyone's eyebrows.

I guess this means Chris Young and Brian Anderson aren't any good.

Yeah. For a second there I got my hopes up on Chris Young, considering he's playing at Delmon Young's level right now (they're both 20/20, Delmon has a higher BA, while Chris has a higher OBP, even when Delmon's AAA stats are added to his AA stats). Boy, was I wrong. Well, at least we have Ryan Sweeney.

Marte and Hanley Ramirez are a little high...seems potential is alot of the weight on this list.  ALOT of players have slipped too far.

i saw marte as high as number 3 or 4 on some lists earlier, hanley ramirez you are right on. he could be the most overrated prospect in the game. all the boston hype has him as being great, but i see nothing in his numbers that would suggest so. maybe he could be a ryan sweeney type guy where his numbers dont tell the story, but we shall see. any bets on how long itll be before sweeney goes yahtzee?

Ramirez is just awesome on defense though.

Defense at SS shouldn't have that kind of affect on a players rating otherwise you'd see J.J. Hardy right there with Hanley Ramirez, considering how most people see Hardy as being the superior defensive SS. Ramirez has him in AVG and by a little in OBP but Hardy has more power seeing how Hanley has about 0 power.

First of all, J.J. Hardy isn't a prospect anymore due to the amount of at bats he has currently with the Brewers. Secondly, Hardy isn't in the same league as Ramirez, as Hardy is atrocious with the bat. He's had good seasons in the Cal league and the PCL, which anyone could do. His future is as a utility man while Ramirez is likely to stick at SS even if he doesn't have power.

Actually he had a pretty nice season in the Southern League, a pitcher's league, as well.
