Da Bears

I ate breakfast with Orton several times, he is a stellar guy. He had a Bears logo as his facebook picture months before being drafted.

/self-promotion

I shudder to think how he'd handle first-team NFL defenses in the regular season though.

I'll go with Hutch. He was pretty decent last year with no run game and a horrible O-Line. Imagine what he could do with a good running game and O-Line and a nice WR.

You could put together the best olineman in the league at every position and Hutch would still find a way to get pressured.

I agree the season is basically done lets see what orton can do. He looks preety good so far

YOU NEVER count a team out in Football before the season has even started. The still have the same opportunity to succeed and they still have to win just as many games. Dont ever call a season a waste just to get Matt Lienart, if we lose on purpose we take a GIANT step back, one that ruins good players.

meh, it's the NFL so the bears do have a shot, you're right.

But this was an average team before, now its an average team without a quarterback.

They were a healthy Urlacher from the playoffs (potentially) last season. Right now they have a healthy Url, a healthy Brown and a healthy Ogun. That makes the defense better, plus Tommie Harris has a year under his belt.

Offensively the Bears have a better oline and a better system. A better WR core (by far), just as crappy tight ends and a better running duo (if Benson signs).

This is a better team than last year, which was a team that wasn't that far off to be honest. It wasn't pretty, but the Bears still have a shot.

What the f*** did Rex ever do to make him so important?

He's right on the money in the above post. Our team got better, and we know that Hutch>Quinn and Orton>Krenzel.

I have confidence that we can win our weak division, I have confidence that Orton can lead our offense just as good as Rex could. Rex hadnt accomplished anything to lead us to believe that losing him would cripple our season. If we lost Urlacher, that may be a different story. But if Tillman, Brown and Wally can all shake off last years injuries and play the way they can (In the case of Tillman, that could be at an All-Pro level).

Our defense is better than last years if it stays healthy, Brown and Tillman for a full season could add 8-10 more turnovers for our defense. Urlacher for a full season in these schemes is AWESOME.

Muhammed is a good WR, Bradley has shown promise and we have Jones/Benson (Benson will sign, he wont be ready right off the bat I dont think however) which could be like Bettis/Staley. Im excited, and I'm ready to see what we can do.

When was the last time a 4+ round rookie QB lead a team to anything?

Is Chad Hutchinson going to lead this team to anything? No. Put him in, let him learn the NFL. Grossman can't stay healthy, and even when he was, he was just average. Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round.

Did I say I'd rather have Hutch? No. I was simple refuting his point that Orton can do what Rex would have.

And if Kyle Orton is so good, how come 31 other GMs let him fall to the 4th round?

tom brady

i believe orton has a shot at being an NFL quarterback, he showed good signs last year at purdue.......while also showing some terrible ones.

we'll see

Tell me that the Bears draft Tom Brady ahead of the Pats that year, that he would have been half as good.
