WHarris1
QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) Haigwood dominant yet again. 9 K's 1 BB 1 ER. And his ERA goes up. Gotta love it. Chris Young w/ a double? WTF, weird... Also after walking 4 times last night he was plunked twice tonight. Soxpranos
QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) Haigwood dominant yet again. 9 K's 1 BB 1 ER. His WHIP in AA is sick. Combine his A and AA WHIP, and its still sick. Man this kid knows what he's doing.
Rex Hudler
Who is Little, one of the starters for Charlotte tonight? Did I miss a move?
Heads22
Jeff Little, I would assume just for the spot start.

Heads22
Kanny mosft of the year, with a short stint in Charlotte thrown in. Organizational spot starter of choice, I guess. http://intimidatorsbaseball.com/clubhouse/....asp?playerId=

DBAHO
QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) What kind of upside would you guys say Haigwood realistically has? IIRC he's been mentioned as a possilbe 3rd or 4th future starter in the rotation. Certainly doing his chances of that no harm at all right now. Chisoxfn
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) Where did he come from? Have I been sleeping all year? Don't worry Rex, I did the same thing first time Heads mentioned his name a few weeks back. He got promoted a while back IIRC and basically hasn't pitched. I could be dead wrong though, but I recall Charlotte promoting someone a few levels who wasn't all that grand (ie organizational type move). Edit: Got off my ass to look up his stats, I got curious. He was pitching out of the pen in Kanny most of the year and than got promoted to Charlotte. Wasn't too bad in Kanny (is 25 or so). Had a 3.70 ERA out of the pen in 58 innings and was up in Charlotte in June for a short period as well prior to today's start. Played his college ball at Vandy and went undrafted and signed with the Sox in 03.
BHAMBARONS
Barons 8 Huntsville 2 W- Haigwood (3-1) L- Sarfate (9-9) Barons struck Early in this game jumping to a 7-0 lead after 2 then Haigwood kept placing 0's on the socreboard as his curve ball was working very well tonight getting 9 K's mostly on that filthy curve. Darren Blakely went 3-4 Homer short of the cycle and drove in 4 more runs 8 in the last 2 games. Chris Young after being walked 4 times yesterday was hit twice in today's game and in a very wierd and contested play was called out for not touching 3rd by the homeplate umpire Jeff Latter I was watching the play the whole way and seen Chris touch 3rd but oh well. Dennis Sarfate suffered an injured elbow in this game after really laboring on the mound. Barons finish season series against Huntsville at 9-2. Barons begin a week that will have 10 games in it 4 double headers one tomorrow then back-to-back-to back DH's next weekend
daa84
is it time to start considering haigwood and liotta better prospects than gio? i suppose gios ceiling is higher, especially since hes only 19, but liotta and haigwood have to be getting close. daa84
QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Gio's had a dominant year as well, I dont know that you can say he's been passed he dominated at low A, but he hasnt come close to dominating in his 9 starts at WS. Liotta has, and Haigwood has dominated at AA
DBAHO
QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) Gio's had a dominant year as well, I dont know that you can say he's been passed Yeah Gio's been doing much better down at Winston - Salem lately. Considering he's only 19 and in his 1st full year in the minors, while Liotta's older and Haigwood's 21, I still like Gio longer - term as the best prospect. That said, Liotta and Haigwood especially are moving up the lists in our best prospects.
DBAHO
QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) he dominated at low A, but he hasnt come close to dominating in his 9 starts at WS. Liotta has, and Haigwood has dominated at AA Let's have a look at the splits on Liotta and Gio; Liotta's got a 1.46 ERA with a 19/5 K/BB ratio giving up 0 HR's in 4 games started. Gio's got a 4.47 ERA with a 54/18 K/BB ratio giving up 3 HR in 9 games started. In Gio's last outing though he pitched 7 shutout innings with 5 K's and 1 BB. Since he was a high school pitcher he was always going to take longer than other pitching prospects. Broadway's just started in Winston - Salem as is already dominating, while Gio started in Bristol. How do you think Santana looked when he was 19? You just can't discount Gio's age and lack of experience. And no offense to Haigwood who put himself on the map in a big way last 4 weeks, but there's only one Sox pitching prospect who rates above Gio and that's McCarthy. It's a combination of age, stuff, projectability and mental intangibles.

I am talking about uncanny ability to focus, iron determination, competitiveness that type of stuff. ie denis rodman....i agree with you, just cuz a guy may be a headcase in a situation or two, or even off the field doesnt mean hes gonna be a nut job on the field. rodman (while a nutjob on the court as well) was focused and determined like you said. besides i like a player with a little edge to him. btw: i was just floatin out the possibility that haigwood and liotta could be close to gio. imo haigwood isnt, but i think liotta and gio have be pretty much gettin to the same level, but then again, i do want to see what either can do at AA at least first.
