WSNS-TV44
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Id say give offer him something inbetween the 3rd pick and 5th pick money and leave it at that. If his agent knows anything he would know that Benson will fall down the draft greatly and not get more money but less money next year. Yep,and that will teach Benson for holding out. Who does he think he is,Terrell Owens?

knightni
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 04:25 AM) What the top picks in the 2005 NFL draft have signed for, with guaranteed money in parentheses. Contract totals include incentives and escalators. 1. Alex Smith, QB, 49ers 6 years, $49.5 million ($24 million) 2. Ronnie Brown, RB, Dolphins 5 years, $34 million ($20 million) 3. Braylon Edwards, WR, Browns 5 years, $40 million ($18.5 million) 4. Cedric Benson, RB, Bears Still negotiating 5. Cadillac Williams, RB, Bucs 5 years, $31 million ($15.1 million) 5 years, $33 million ($17 million) would fit right in there.

It's the age of agents trying to hold teams for ransom, everyone's basically doing it, the Titans just got Adam Jones signed. It's not like Benson was the only rookie holding out or something. Nope thats not the case, the reason for the holdout is that they were waiting to see the deal Ronnie Brown got... well now Brown is signed so now people are really going to get pissed if Benson still holds out. If the bears are offering inbetween the 3rd and 5th pick money and he isnt accepting than i say screw him and not to offer anymore than that. How much money did Rivers get last year compared to Ronnie Brown FWIW?
kev211
Benson is Chicago's TO. Doesn't care about the team just wants the money.
GoodAsGould
QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) Benson is Chicago's TO. Doesn't care about the team just wants the money. There is a huge difference between Benson and TO. Yes both are holding out but its far from the same thing. Benson has no money right now and if he has an injury this can be the only money he ever makes in the NFL while TO has already made a bundle of money and just signed his contract last year. Now if Benson signs his contract than 2-3 years later decides to hold out than you can compare him to TO.
