daa84
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Garcia pitches like a pussy to Mauer, and pays for it. 4 game losing streak, here we come! soon to be 1st of the year. whats sad is that 3 runs should be fine to overcome...meanwhile where would Jr play?? jphat007
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Who the f*** cares about the first week. Robin Ventura was 0-41. So what? Because if you suck for your first few weeks to a month, you usually get sent back down. See Arnie Munoz, Felix Diaz, Brandon McCarthy, and countless others. Flash Tizzle
My philosophy is if Matt Murton can contribute for nearly a month (estimation with 48 AB's), anyone can. If Anderson is our top hitting prospect, I would appreciate more than a .214 Timo-esque average over his extended stay on our club. If he hits .260-270 as Danman projected, I won't have a problem. But if he struggles mightily I'll be concerned.
fathom
Garcia is just phenomenal at home. One more hit, and he will have allowed 10 hits in 4 of his last 6 starts.
fathom
Hitters are batting about .318 against Garcia since the ASB, including a WHIP around 1.58.

chisoxfan79
Well the Twins just won the game. That would be two much for the Sox to get three runs in one game. They need to get Griffey because if they go into the playoffs with this team I see a quick three games and done.

We need to get something, because the Indians and Twins have plenty in the tank to catch up with the Sox. The Twins have been getting some great pitching lately, and the Indians hitting (besides 2 Tampa games) has been ungodly lately.

fathom
QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) Who the hell is Hawk the GM? Oh wait they tried that once and he set the Franchise back 5 years. Hawk loves Griffey Jr. I can almost guarantee you that he's been told to say certain things. Trust me, if we were really close to a trade, they wouldn't be reading an e-mail about Griffey Jr. every other second. In my opinion, we're using Hawk as a pseudo-publicist in order to state why we don't need him.

Thing is, he wasn't brought here to be a #3. If Garland doesn't have a breakout year, Garcia is looked upon to be the guy right behind Buehrle. Problem is, you know what Garcia is gonna do just about every outing.....stuggle in the first inning, giving up 1-4 runs, then shutting the opposition down but still giving up a few too many hits, then running into another inning that leaves him on teh hook. His WHIP has absolutely sucked since the ASB
