Actually I'm an unabashed fan of pale ale, which is the blanket term for all traditional UK bitter and such as well as their quality counterparts produced elsewhere. Some UK beer snobs will use the designation only for bottle conditioned products and call cask conditioned versions bitter, but historically that dichotomy is in err.
