I must say Soxtalk has way less Cubs hatred than any other Sox board.

This is a good thing, now more people get to read my witty, intelligent and grammatically incorrect posts. :) Hell atleast I know the difference between their, there and they're unlike some people.

Also, thanks to you, we've seen a steady decline of Mike Caruso hatred.

Hey everyone,

I'm the guy who wrote the article. Third-generation Sox fan, grew up in the Region, but have lived in D.C. for five years now. Sorry this is my first post--I've been lurking around for a couple of seasons now, and Soxtalk is hands down the best Sox board out there, so I was happy to give the board a shout out. :cheers

Anyway, I'm sure people will find things to argue with in the piece. One guy who commented already--a Red Sox fan--(http://fray.slate.msn.com/?id=3936&m=15443872) said it showed ChiSox fans are lame because I don't have passion for my team. That jackass missed my point. Sox fans are as passionate as any other fans out there; we just don't buy into the bulls*** mystique sappy national sportswriters like to lay on like they do. We want wins. No excuses.

As for the ballpark, it's true I haven't seen this year's renos. When I was in town earlier this summer for the 4th, the Sox were on a road trip. I went to a couple of games last season, and I thought the brickwork and green seats helped cut the sterility a bit, but still the place ain't exactly inviting. And I'm sure the upper deck is still ridiculous--when I sat up there on New Comiskey's opening day in 91 I got vertigo--and that was the third row. I don't care how many seats they took out. But I'm not saying the Cell's a bad place to watch a ballgame, it just doesn't have any romance. Which is fine by me--if you can't tell from the essay, I'm not a romanticist.

Go Sox--Pods, Gooch, AJ, Judy, all of em. (Listening to Rooney and Farmer as I type...)
