Could this have to do with Pods on the DL?  Doesn't that open up a spot or something?

No.

Pods is on the 15 day DL. He is still on the 40 man.

You are only off the 40 man if you are in the 60-day DL.

Is Pods still on the 40-man roster even though he is on the 15-day DL? Do you have to be placed on the 60-day DL to be moved off the 40-man roster?

Pods is on the 15 which means he's still on the 40 man roster. This move has nothing to do with him.

Just thinking of players that are out there for the taking because of being DFA'd by their former teams.

List Includes:

Scott Speizio

Mark Bellhorn

Danny Graves

None of these really excite me.

None of them would make too much sense either since we have Blum and Graves sucks. I wouldn't mind Bellhorn's stick at 3rd base but he sucks defensively there.

Mark Bellhorn, has been one of my favorite Red Sox over the past two seasons. He always seems to catch hot in his first year with a team, and then cool off and while that came true once again, Bellhorn still hasn't been as bad as his strike out numbers and batting average would indicate.

His on-base percentage is higher than every player on the White Sox other than Konerko, Iguchi, and Podsednik. Boy, is that a disgusting statistic to see. Anyways, I think he would be a great addition so long as he played everyday for Crede.

Bellhorn would have to play 3rd base for us and he would be a huge upgrade on Crede's bat but he sucks defensively there. But if Ozzie can play Ozuna at 3rd base...

none.

I'm not 100% on this.

You'd figure Roto would have something on this by now, plus they havn't even mentioned this on any of the sportscenter updates.

I don't understand why you seem to think he's so bad at third base?

Cuz he is. I remember seeing him play 3rd base when he was with the Cubs.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stat...ontext=fielding

Bellhorn has a .944 career fielding percentage at 3rd base. That's bad.

Because he's bad at 2nd base, so multiply that by being 150 feet further away.  That's why.

LOL, good point. Bellhorn is acceptable at 2nd base but he is just brutal at 3rd base. He's just not a good defensive player but he can draw a lot of walks and hit a lot of doubles and some homers. But he also strikes out a lot and doesn't hit for average.

Mark Bellhorn has been excellent at second base over the last two seasons.

I must have missed his good defensive player. All I remember were the Red Sox fans chanting "Pokey, Pokey" early during the season cause Bellhorn was a butcher at 2nd base last season.

Mark Bellhorn is comparable to Geoff Blum, Chipper Jones, and Jose Vizcaino in terms of his defensive ability at third base.

Joe Crede compares to David Bell and Tomas Perez.

Jose Vizcaino can bearly field his position when he's pitching, how do you expect him to play thirdbase well?
