YASNY
QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 07:34 AM) I do. The Swift Boat Vets started with money. They were well funded out of the gate. Are there people latching onto Cindy Sheehan? Yes. Does that change what she's out there to do? No. Correct. She's still allowing herself to be used as a patsy by the lefties. Texsox
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 06:49 AM) Correct. She's still allowing herself to be used as a patsy by the lefties. I don't see it as being a patsy as much as aligning herself with people who share her views. I believe it's called grassroots. The swifties weren't patsys in my book, even though they wound up with big money supporters. They had a message and used whatever vehicle was made available to get the message out, same as she is doing.
JUGGERNAUT
This issue was covered in the Sun Trib. It talked about how the coalition is falling apart & how a year from now America will be standing alone. But what's the alternative? Leave now & let Iraq digress into civil war? That's what will happen if we leave. Prejudice is commonplace in Iraq. If we pull out it will run wild. I read about the petition & do any of those people consider the consequences of a pullout right now? Likewise it's ridiculous to suggest we should pullout after having spent $250B in this effort & not come away with a strategic base. We have never had a problem with Kurdish controlled N Iraq. So at the very least we should establish a major military base as close to the Caspian Sea as we can to have at least gained a strategic advantage in all of this. There is something about this lady, and I cannot back it up, that makes me feel that the "vehicle" is determining what road to take.
