Phillies Acquire Tucker

Phillies acquired outfielder Michael Tucker from the Giants for RHP Kelvin Pichardo.

What the Phillies really could have used was a right-handed hitter capable of playing first base against lefties. Tucker, though, is a nice addition for the bench. He probably won't get many starts unless someone gets hurt, but he can replace Endy Chavez as the club's top pinch-hitter versus righties. Pichardo, 19, was 3-2 with a 4.17 ERA in nine starts and one relief appearance for the Rookie GCL Phillies. He has some potential, although he's probably several years away.
