kapkomet
Listed in a Reuters news report as posted on Yahoo: Artist Matt Rinard, who owns a business in the French Quarter, holed up on the fifth floor of a Canal Street hotel and watched the storm roll in. He said pieces of sheet metal and plywood, billboards and pieces of palm trees flew down Canal, which borders the Quarter, as huge gusts of wind blew through the city. "It's blustery. You can see the speed of it now, it's unbelievable," he said. "The power went out about an hour and a half ago and so now I'm just watching the occasional dumbass walking down Canal Street." LMAO. Reuters posted it just like that, and you would have to be a dumbass to walk down the street in that crap.
southsider2k5
Speaking of Darwin awards, how about not only staying a city that is 10 feet below sea level during a category 5 hurricane, but also going out for a walk in it
mreye
I heard one on the radio this morning. It was a sheriff from down there: "You have an obligation to yourself and your family to haul ass and get out of here."

FlaSoxxJim
QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) World's Biggest Dumbass Damn, I didn't even think to check if any of the NOLA cams were up and running through the storm. Go figure, since those are the first things I tune in to come Mardi Gras time. I guess it's official. Strangers flashing boobies holds more sway over me than a major hurricane. Queen Prawn
I wouldn't say long before, but if he was there at that point, he didn't evacuate and wasn't at the superdome either.

I've been watching them all day. At one point there were 2 guys standing in the middle of an intersection getting pelted by rain. One fell over and rolled at least 50 feet down the street.
