Growing up in the 60s and 70s I remember being at at least one or two double headers every season. Both on the north and south sides. I came from a "mixed" family :D

Now they seem to rare on the schedule that I wonder how many people have ever been to one.

Sidenote, remember Wilbur Wood (below) pitching both ends of a twin bill?

Against Seattle in 2000, at home. They swept us. It was a sign of things to come.

Brian was there and made sure he called me from the park (he's a big Mariners fan). Considering he kept promising me tickets, it's not surprising I told him to eff off and I hung up on him. Still can't figure out why he dumped me after the Sox were swept and what's even more puzzling is that I took his dumb ass back. :P

My mom attended quite a few with her sisters and dad back in the day.

My friend and I spent about 13 hours at Metrodome because of a doubleheader. It was 2001. The Twins were playing the A's. It was a scheduled doublerheader (trying to get people excited for baseball they way it meant to be.. or some silly marketing scheme like that)

It was cool and not so cool

cool- lots of baseball

not so cool-it was at crappy metrodome

oops..i voted no but really have been to one....in 1993 i went to the sox DH i believe against the texas rangers THE DAY BEFORE THEY CLINCHED!! i remember they won the first game and the place was going nuts because they could clinch it if they won the 2nd game.

joey cora came up in the 9th with a chance to tie it with someone on 2nd and hit a little floater to the centerfielder who made a spectacular play. we were pissed. but then the great Bo Jackson moment would have never happened...great doubleheader nonetheless.

I saw a double dip at the dome in the 90's. It was versus the Yanks (IIRC) and was really odd because it was a game that was being made up in Minnesota, even though it was rained out in New York.

I think double dips are awesome, especially if the crowd isn't there and you can kind of space yourself out and relax at the park. Of course I've only been to two. One there and one in Charlotte to see the Knights play.

jmho, but the unscheduled twin bills that pass as doubleheaders nowadays aren't the sam as the scheduled Sunday doubleheaders at Old Comiskey from the 'old days.'

I completely understand that the players hate them, and I'm sure they always have. But every team had them and had to grind through them, and it was just a part of the game. And they were huge fun to be in attendance at.

Mr. Cub or not, Ernie had the right attitude: LET'S PLAY TWO!! :cheers

The last scheduled twin bill I was at was in 1983 against the Red Sox. We went for my birthday so it was around the end of May. And I know I played hookey with my dad and brother that day so it wasn't a weekend game We destroyed them in the first game, and then lost the second game 2-0 or 3-0 after Brit Burns had pitched a shutout through eight innings.

There is something special about checking the schedule at the beginning of the season and seeing that Sunday doubleheader against the Yanks or Tigers. Single games we didn't make advance plans to go see, but the double headers, those were planned for.

I totally agree. I went to more baseball games back in the day when the Twins sucked and no one went. But I guess that is for a different thread. haha
