Rowand44
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) And remember this is the first win of whats going to be a nice winning streak (ie the Sox are gonna go on a roll winning series after series). I honestly believe this as well. The offense just was so impressive tonight, it's almost liked something clicked add that to the pickmeup bmac gave to this team, I can easily see a nice winning streak coming along. BlackBetsy
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) One thing for BMac, he needs to eat a couple burgers and hit the weights. He's skinny as a rail. We should keep him in Chicago just to beef him up a bit with all the great food this town has to offer. Seriously, get that guy to Wendy's STAT! I think Brandon will come back in 2006 with at least 15 extra pounds. And I bet 2 mph more on his fastball.

southsider2k5
Brandon McCarthy just went out there and absolutely pwned the Texas Rangers offense that had kicked the s*** out of Buehrle and Garland the last two games. Think about that for a second. He didn't shutdown the Royals or something, this was one of the best offenses in baseball, and they didn't have a chance against Brandon. Congrats Brandon, but please pardon some of us for feeling a great amount of elation for your first major league win. Many of us have followed your career in great detail ever since you and your dad registered here a couple of years ago, and it feels like we know you. All of us at Soxtalk are so proud to have followed your first win, because it was one of our own that went out there and did it. Here is to many, many more, and a long healthy and rich career as a Chicago White Sox. Hopefully they brought in a forklift for your beer shower so you could really enjoy it

Texsox
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) You have to translate those Texas expressions. Let me have a nice woman sing it for you . . . Artist/Band: Berg Matraca Lyrics for Song: Tall Drink Of Water Lyrics for Album: The Speed Of Grace You can't run from your blues You can't waltz across Texas in a beat up Subaru So I sat a bar down the street from Pete's garage Then you walked in,like a long legged, sweet mirage And I could stay till the wells run dry I could stay till wells run dry But a tall drink of water ia all I need A tall drink of water in faded jeans I could run or I could ask Could I dip into your loving cup with a crystal glass? I've been looking for a cowboy with a sense of poetry I've been looking for a man I want but I don't need And I could stay till the wells run dry I could stay till the wells run dry But a tall drink of water will get me by A tall drink of water with big dark eyes Baby nothing's as wild as a woman With a broken heart I'm just looking for a place A place to start Check the tyres, pump the gas While the blacktop hisses like a snake in the burning grass Baby, Amarillo's as hot as a barbecue But not nearly enough for a man like you And I could stay till the wells run dry I could stay till the wells run dry I could stay till the wells run dry But a tall drink of water will last for miles A tall drink of water makes me smile It makes me smile (Tall drink of water) Yes a tall drink of water (Tall drink of water) Tall drink of water (Tall drink of water) Sure feels good (Tall drink of water) Thank you baby

bjm676
What road trip it's been for the Sox up-and-comers: Jenks (1st ML save) McCarthy (1st ML win) well deserved Anderson (not 1, but 2 HRs off Felix Hernandez) nice inning by Bajenaru "The Futures so Bright, I gotta Wear Shades" (I know, it was a stupid song, but it's appropriate) Edited August 31, 2005 by robinventura23

CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Congrats BMac on your 1st ML win !!! If he comes back with 15 added lbs. I will be very surprised. With that kind of frame it is extremely difficult to add weight. I should know because I am a"tall drink of water" myself. But then again I never had a personal trainer. He can add a few lbs. to his legs and upper body but that isnt a guarantee for more speed on the fastball. If extra muscle messes with a fluid motion it could hinder it. If he can add 6-8 extra lbs that should be good. He will fill out as he ages. (Everyone kept telling me that but it never happened.)

Jordan4life_2007
Buehrle, Garland, and Hernandez all get the snot beat out of them, yet, it's B-MAC who comes through when we so desperately need it. Go figure.
TheBlackSox8
I thought that too....I just shook my head. Love the BMac performance...but the experienced starters with the stats couldn't do s***. Edited September 1, 2005 by TheBlackSox8
