CWSGuy406
1-1 in the top of the tenth. Zito and Colon both pitched nine innings, Colon working into the tenth. Dan Johnson with an awesome AB, like twelve pitches, then sprays a double to left field. K-Rod coming in, runner on third, one out. BTW -- I think I'm going to make two seperate "Down the Stretch" threads, in which you guys can post about the races not involving the Sox, i.e. not the AL Central. Would you guys like that/use it? Or would you rather have seperate threads that you guys make on your own?

I think that's a great idea..Keith, I guess there is a first for everything Seriously though, I'm enjoying all of baseball much more this year down the stretch, last year I was bummed because of the sox and while I was still watching all the games it just wasn't very enjoyable for me. Chisoxfn
It was a thing of beauty. I was begging my dad not to leave when it went to xtra's, but he's got a flight at like 4 AM tomorrow for business. Colon was freaking sick and Zito was every bit as good. Made on mistake the entire game. Heck there wasn't a hard hit ball by the Angels until the 7th inning and Chavez was the only guy to hit the ball hard on Bart. Bart is my vote for Cy Young at this point.

Punch and Judy Garland
Bartolo is definitely the CY leader. I'd rank them Colon, Santana, Buehrle, Garland at this point. Also, I wanted to mention BIG MO deserves some dap. He's playing great for the Padres and contributed again tonight

Kalapse
Big Daddy Vladdy to the plate. Is it wrong that the more I watch Angels' games the more Rex Hudler is growing on me?

Punch and Judy Garland
Rex Hudler isn't bad. His drug thing a few years ago will probably keep him from ever advancing to the network or anything but he's pretty decent I think
Rowand44
Vlad shatters his bat and the a's win. That's good stuff there, playoff baseball in august....

Chisoxfn
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) I thought so, I always hated Hudler but the more I listen to him, the more I find myself appreciating his idiotic yelling and dumb senseless comments. PS. I'm gonna ignore that Caruso comment. Hold on...let me go suspend myself But ya, Hudler to me adds absolutely zero baseball intelligence to a game. I always hear him ranting and raving about things on the broadcast than I turn to look at my friends to see, did he just say that. Than we will stare and laugh thinking about what a buffon this guy is. Its like he never played the game or something hearing some of his expert analysis. To me its not the fact that he's annoying, because he is, its more about how many stupid things he says during a game (I'm not talking about being wrong when talking about a player, I'm talking about being wrong when it comes to generic baseball strategy). I can't wait till this offseason and I know most of the ticket holders in my section feel the same way (partially because I convinced them with my constant blathering about him. They all think highly of me after I whined and complained when they signed Cabrera and Finley (stupid moves). Heck I didn't even like Eckstein, but it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out signing Cabrera was a lateral move at best, one that cost them a whole lot more money. But pretty soon Erstad will be back in center and he's really fun to watch out there. I just wonder what the over/under will be on him getting hurt again. Kalapse
Maybe it's the fact that he's the polar opposite of a lot of the boring ass announcers that you hear around baseball (ie: Seattle, Pitt :sleep ). Rex might be dumb when it comes to Baseball strategy and if you want to learn about baseball stay far away from Angel broadcasts but the one thing you can't argue is that he is entertaining. I've noticed there aren't many good anouncing teams anymore. Rarley do I come across some that are entertaining. The Twins announcers have grown on me a bit and I love Michael Kay (Yanks announcers). A's have absolutely hideous announcers (well if they have the same ones this year as last).

CWSGuy406
The Angels announcers are awful. Almost as bad as an outsider would think of Hawk & DJ. Hudler has a nickname for EVERYONE. He has Vladdy, 'Ersty', and I even heard 'Figgy'. It's awful. And I don't really like Michael Kay, either. Talk about being on Jeter's knob... Zito was f***ing awesome. He spotted that overhand curveball wherever he wanted to put it. And, this year, as opposed to last year, he's also got a nice slider working, too. That was one of the best pitched games I've seen of the year. Colon was awesome, too. It's gonna be an awesome race down the stretch, too. They face off six more times. It looks like LAoA has the easier schedule, but a win either later tonight or tomorrow would be huge for Oakland.

I love the enthusiasm they have. The Saturday game vs the Twins earlier this season when Prince Fielder hit his first home run was one of the best broadcasts I've ever watched. RockRaines
I will tell you what. Bartolo is a freak. He is pitching into the 10th and still throwing 96 mph, thats unbelieveable. The guy is a horse, and I really wish we would have held on to him.
