Where I came from there were 2 different things, a staring contest, and a blinking contest. The blinking was when you don't blink and the staring was that you could blink, just not look away.

Yeah I remember at our school friends of mine changed the rules because of that. It sounds stupid now, but at least it worked then, haha.
