FlaSoxxJim
A couple of years ago I would not have believed that statistic. Then I saw Leno's "Jaywalk All Stars." Who the hell is still letting these people breed?!? Edited September 2, 2005 by FlaSoxxJim

Queen Prawn
QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Um... I think you should read a little further on that link. The Flat Earth Society is not in any way responsible for the failure of the French to repel the Germans at the Maginot Line during WWII. Nor is the Flat Earth Society responsible for the recent yeti sightings outside the Vatican, or for the unfortunate enslavement of the Nabisco Inc. factory employees by a rogue hamster insurrectionist group. Furthermore, we are not responsible for the loss of one or more of the following, which may possibly occur as the result of exposing one's self to the dogmatic and dangerously subversive statements made within: life, limb, vision, Francois Mitterand, hearing, taste, smell, touch, thumb, Aunt Mildred, citizenship, spleen, bedrock, cloves, I Love Lucy reruns, toaster, pine derby racer, toy duck, antelope, horseradish, prosthetic ankle, double-cheeseburger, tin foil, limestone, watermelon-scented air freshner, sanity, paprika, German to Pig Latin dictionary, dish towel, pet Chihuahua, pogo stick, Golf Digest subscription, floor tile, upper torso or halibut. JUGGERNAUT
Rather than criticize those who believe the Sun revolves around the Earth you should ask the question why do they believe this? The most reasonable answer is that they were never taught astronomy. If we assume that we all are creatures evolved from chimps & that science is rooted in that which we can ONLY observe by our 5 senses then what evidence is there that would convince them the Earth revolves around the Sun? This is a truth we either accept as something taught in a school or that we have reasoned ourselves looking at the mathematical data afforded to us from astronomical events. It is something we believe not because our senses or instincts tell us it is true but rather because our calculations reason it must be so. When Darwinists find evidence that chimps are capable of understanding mathematics then I will consider them as useful to society. Until then they are just a bunch of religious nuts void of spirituality. No one has to be a Darwinist to accept the generalizations put forth by the theories of evolution & natural selection. A Darwinist takes those theories to the extreme, treats them as laws, & uses them as bearings for societal behavior. Pretty radical stuff. Heads22
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) If we assume that we all are creatures evolved from chimps & that science is rooted in that which we can ONLY observe by our 5 senses then what evidence is there that would convince them the Earth revolves around the Sun? I don't believe the notion is that we descended from chimps, but, a common prehistoric ancestor. BIG difference.
the southside tiger
I cant believe that. Unfortunately, Ive seen surveys that show that something like a third of all American teens cant find the Pacific Ocean on a map. I mean, how stupid do you have to be? It takes up like a third of the globe, including a border with one whole American coast. How can you not find that f***in thing?
