Middle Buffalo
I read an article in SI about George W. Bush. He went mountain biking with a group of reporters (GW is a workout nut), and it said GW's resting heart rate is 47 beats per minute ("Lance Armstrong territory"). Mine is 60 (at 6'2/205lbsand I'm seriously out of cardio shape). What kind of shape are you in?

SoxFan1
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) take your pulse for 10 secs, then multiply that number by 6 Gotcha.... After I calmed down, I was at 54 using that logic. Edited September 5, 2005 by SoxFan1

Queen Prawn
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Between 66 and 72. Huh, I thought I was in pretty good shape. Ditto. And I do plenty of cardio a week. Thinking about it, I think it has more to do with my breathing because of my allergies which have been particularly bad the last few days. Normally my heart isn't beating that fast from other times I have checked. Edited September 5, 2005 by Queen Prawn
farmteam
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Between 66 and 72. Huh, I thought I was in pretty good shape. I don't think that's bad, more like average. Bad is 80-90. It's not exactly 100% fit, but again, not bad. I just did a rough count, and mine is about 60. southsider2k5
I used to be in the high 40's, but that was in college when I was running everyday, and 40 pounds ago.
CanOfCorn
54. And I was at the local "Lance Armstrong" 24 Hour Fitness and they have all these stats about Lance. His resting heart rate is between 32 - 34. That's freakin' amazing. Of course, his heart is probably the size of a 16" softball.

Steff
QUOTE(farmteam @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) Bad is 80-90. That is incorrect. There are way to many factors in determining a "good" resting heart rate. "Good" can be anywhere from 40 to 100 depending on the person. Here's a few sites that offer more detail. http://www.medhelp.org/perl6/cardio/archive/14051.html http://wellness.lattc.cc.ca.us/131/rest.hr.html http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4701
