For lack of a better way to say it, but Ozzie told Marte to pack your bags and leave today. my source on this is a member of the organization. Damaso - he gone.

Hold on--you're suggesting this organization "fired" Marte?

We're just going to eat the remainder of his salary? Doesn't sound right.

Wow, that would be something.  I've been saying this for a month now, but we're seeing a full organizational collapse.

You've been able to not believe the hype on the White Sox all season, but you belive this w/out any official word?

I'm not going to believe this until I see an official mention of such.

Well I doubt this guy is making it up. If he is, this is a very crappy post.

This is the sort of news which members (such as myself) will cite for the unforseable future anytime Al Lopez posts a prediction.

I'll go, "Hey, remember when you thought the White Sox fired Marte?" :D

I'm not doubting you or your impeachable sources, but a move such as this would be idiotic in the extreme.

On one hand, you could keep Marte, a LHP, through the 2005 playoffs and trade him in the off-season, a market in which he would most certainly have value.

or

"Fire" him, destroying all trade value and losing a LHP and staple of the Sox bullpen.

Possibly a spot for BMac?

Very good point.

If Marte were "fired", that would be a trip to the DL, with him being told he should not hang around.

Personally, I believe it, it isn't far fetched. I know they're at their wits end with him. All you have to do is listen to Harrelson, he's the mouthpiece.

Right you are.

Isn't it funny how Hawk finds a way to bad-mouth a member of his belov'ed White Sox immediately before his departure?

Coincidence...I think not.

"Firing" Marte right now would be silly. I was at the game and through out the whole team was going through the motions. They looked like a team just playing out the string, which if they play like this the rest of the season is exactly what they will be doing. The offense is piss poor. KW not getting a legitimate #3 hitter is really going to hurt this team. He has to make it a priority this off-season. Last Sunday was Kid's day, and Ozzie had the starters excused from signing autographs so they could get more rest. Personally, I found that to be ridiculous, but either this team is absolutely exhausted, or their record has gone to their heads. They complained about the small crowds, but won the games with smaller crowds. Hopefully they can beat up KC. If they lose 2 out of 3 there, its going to be a very stressful finish.

I don't know if this is what happened or not, but Farmer said he ran into KW before the game and asked him how things were going, he told him something to the effect that things weren't good and a big announcement was coming down the pipes.

Just putting together the way Ozzie showed up Marte on the mound the other day, it is really plausible to think that Oz and Damaso had it out, and Ozzie told him to stick it and go home.

Like I said, it is just a theory, but it is plausible.

Marte will be dealt in the off-season, there is no doubt about that. I'm guessing the Sox are going to put him on the DL. I think the poster is referring to him showing up to the game late and Ozzie telling him to go home and not be at todays game.

The Sox aren't going to waive him, he has trade value.
