hammerhead johnson
QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) Is there a snowballs chance in hell Baltimore wins tonight.. Not really, but with Pittsburgh favored to win by 11 points this evening, I might put some money on Baltimore plus the points. They're gonna lose, but by 11 or more? Hmmm. Dam8610
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) f***ing Broncos should have a 7 game winning streak. @Miami Lost 10-34 San Diego Won 20-17 Kansas City Won 30-10 @Jacksonville Won 20-7 Washington Won 21-19 New England Won 28-20 @N.Y. Giants Lost 23-24 Philadelphia Won 49-21 I think that they'll win a minimum of 5 games out of their last 8: @Oakland (Coming Off A Bye) W N.Y. Jets W @Dallas L @Kansas City L Baltimore W @Buffalo W Oakland W @San Diego L 8-0 at home, and 3-5 on the road. I still can't believe that they lost in Miami. Otherwise, they'd have a great shot at 12 wins. 11-5 for the Broncos would mean Shannahan would finally get his first post Elway win in the playoffs, but they'd still get cut down by the same buzzsaw that took them out the last 2 years. Palehosefan
Pittsburgh's OL has been struggling. But, remember both Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are out for Baltimore. But whenever Pitt and Baltimore play, its usually close, no matter what kind of year they are having. I think 11 points is pretty safe. Anthony Wright has a strong arm and will cause the Steeler's cornerback's some problems, they still get beat on some deep routes more than your average cornerback. Palehosefan
Heath catches everything close to him and runs great routes. He's not blessed with Shockey, Winslow, Gates type TE speed, but he makes up for it with his hands, route running, and blocking ability.
Punch and Judy Garland
Denver CAN win in Indy. They did it with the Q Griffin game at the end of 03 where they had the ball for about 41 minutes. I think they are constructed to be more competitive against them now as the Indy passing game has taken a step backwards. Whether they beat Indy or not, they are as good as anybody in the AFC and could go to2toe with Pittsburgh. The Giants are probably the team I am now pickign to win the NFC because they just have so many weapons on offense. Their D is obviously not the team that played Washington OR the D that gave up 45 to SD. Denver ran for about 190 on them so there are certainly defensive concerns. If they can hold teams to 20 or so points, they are in every game. I just don't know that they are a team built to win in January right now. Right now if Dallas played New York in the playoffs, I'd still like our chances. We match up very well with them, except for Roy Williams pass defensively on Jeremy Shockey. But right now the NFC is very wide open. Denver's success really depends on how effectively they can run the football. They still won't really scare you passing the ball, because Rod Smith and Ashley Lelie even though they're good, they're not great, you've just got to be careful the way they use playaction to get the ball so well to their TE's in Alexander and Putzier and their FB, especially when they get to the red zone. Palehosefan
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2212384 Big Ben out atleast one game with surgery repairing some torn cartilage. He played through it to lead the game winning drive on MNF, but its good that he will finally get it taken care of. Charlie Batch will be the replacement thank God. I never thought I would type that sentence, but its true when Maddox was your 2nd string.

Let's see if we can make sumthin of him. He's accomplished 2 things in his pro career: 1.) Managed to take a good amount of $ from the Bears while starting 7 games over 3 seasons. 2.) Blocked a FG vs the Titans last year. Which lead to a game winning safety in OT for the Bears.

If they can hold teams to 20 or so points, they are in every game. I just don't know that they are a team built to win in January right now. It took a herculean effort from the Broncos against a far weaker Colts defense for the Broncos to win that game. The Colts went on to prove how much of a fluke that game was just 2 weeks later. Now, the Colts have a better defense that combines with an offense that is just as good as the 2004 version if not better due to their improved patience. You say that the passing game has regressed for the Colts? Name one other team that has faced constant 2 deep 8 man zones, and has still had the same type of success the Colts have had in 2005 in their passing game. You'd be hard pressed to find one, if you could at all. The fact that while teams are trying to take away the Colts' biggest strength, they are still in the top 3 league wide in scoring offense tells me that this offense is as good, if not better, than any offense they've fielded recently. Add to that a much improved defense led by MVP candidate (that's right, I said MVP candidate) Dwight Freeney, and you have a recipe for disaster for any opposing team. DBAHO
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Good luck with that. The main issue is his health of course, but if he can stay healthy, he was a 1st rounder, could definitely be interesting to watch. Funny thing is Ross Verba was telling his buddies he was about to ink a nice long - term deal with the Boys just before we signed Colombo.

Yeah, like we drafted Jacob Rogers in the 2nd round from USC 2 season ago, chronic shoulder injuries, didn't play 1 game for us and got released. As for the Colombo pick, just another example of Angelo's poor drafting record.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Yeah, like we drafted Jacob Rogers in the 2nd round from USC 2 season ago, chronic shoulder injuries, didn't play 1 game for us and got released. As for the Colombo pick, just another example of Angelo's poor drafting record. Wrong...he has done a hell of a job in the draft. For cripes sakes Orton and Bradley both look like winners, Chris Harris a starting safety..another winner and thats just this years draft. Verdict is obviously still out on all of them, including Benson. Peanut Tillman, Lance Briggs, Nathan Vasher, Tommie Harris, Tank Johnson, Ian Scott, the list goes on and on and on. Angelo has done an oustanding job. The only real knock you could say he had was the trade for Grossman/Haynes for Dewayne Roberson and I still think that was the right move. Roberson hasn't reached his potential and the Bears saved a lot of money trading down and did get themselves two quality players. Haynes would get significant snaps for a lot of teams and well Rex has looked like a quality QB when he's on the field, but the GM can't control injuries. Da Bears >>> Dallas
GoodAsGould
actually right now Dallas is a better team than the bears. If our offense can move the ball consistantly when Grossman returns that could change but right now Dallas > Chicago.

Let's have a look at the other picks he's made. Michael Haynes at pick 14, that was a bust. We don't know how Grossman is going to pan out yet, so we'll put an * next to him. Berrian hasn't done much as a receiver yet. Harris is only starting because Mike Green got benched because of his poor play. Benson's been a bust so far (albeit because of Thomas Jones's play). Angelo's done fairly well in the later rounds of the draft, but his 1st round picks over the years have not have a good rate of success. He was only in the doghouse a few weeks ago when the Bears had a sub .500 record, IIRC. It's easy to say Robertson hasn't rached his potential yet, but you gotta remember they also had Jason Ferguson and Josh Evans in there at DT. Now that DeWayne's the #1 guy in there, his numbers are getting much better, he has 16 tackles and 3 sacks in the last 3 games. As for Chicago being better than Dallas, well I dispute that heavily. You've played only 2 teams this season with a record above .500, and you lost both of those game. Chicago is still the 27th worst team in yards for offense, which ain't good with the way Thomas Jones has been rushing. Defensively, I know everyone will say Chicago is better, but there are some aspects of our D I like better, such as our CB's (I'll take Newman/Henry/Glenn over Tillman/Vasher/Azumah), and it's quite close up front and with the LB's as well. Dallas's offense makes the difference with Bledsoe, Jones, Glenn and Keyshawn.
