winninguglyin83
if the el foldo plays itself out, at least there should be some good behind the scenes dirt on this team. maybe even a book. this team will go down with the most memorable teams in Sox history
fathom
Great start by Garland!!!! Lets hope PK and Everett get all of one, cause I highly doubt they'll be swinging for a single.

That funky motion
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Only because he keeps getting thrown out at 2nd every damn time he's on base. He needs to get the stop sign until he's healthier. Agreed,or the hit and run!
jphat007
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) Its the lightest .360 you ever want to see. He's not going to the bench, but this guy generates very few runs. His job isn't to generate runs. Its to get on base so the other 4 or 5 guys behind him can generate runs. His numbers are .362 .423 .468 in September. That's incredible. What the hell are you talking about. If everyone on this team contributed like that right now we'd be awesome. Dick Allen
Garland was great. Its nice a pitcher stepped up. Now get him out, his next start is against Cleveland. I don't think you want him facing them after throwing 135 pitches. Edited September 17, 2005 by Dick Allen
Balta1701
QUOTE(joeynach @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) If Ozzie leaves John in something bad is going to happen. This has been a recurring theme this year. After a stellar perfromace, trotting them out there with 100 pitches, only bad things happen. TANKE HIM OUT! Think of it this way...If it goes 14 innings, the Twins have used up 2 pitchers, and thanks to an INCREDIBLE f***ING PERFORMANCE by Jon Garland (you guys call him Judy again before the playoffs... )...we haven't used any, so we don't have to go to Adkins like we did last time we had a marathon against these guys. CWSGuy406
If the offense doesn't score this inning, they should start putting pitchers at the positions. I mean, come on, who would love to see Bobby Jenks play second base. Or, El Duque at short! I bet he's got killer range for a 40 year old (or 36, or whatever he is). I guess that could be it for Garland. Let's get a run or two, then it's Jenk's time.
winninguglyin83
of course, looking on the bright side, if we make the playoffs, at least we're playing some games with playoff level intensity the last two weeks, right?
jphat007
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) I know. That very deceptive .360 is a reason why there's not a chance in the world that he'll ever be taken out. It's fine...Ozzie is going to win or lose w/the people that put us in this place. That's his decision, and I just hope he doesn't try to deflect the blame like he's been doing lately if things end bad. Your kidding rihgt. You want to bench a guy whose OBP is almost .450 in the leadoff spot in more than 50 ABs in September. How am I supposed to take that seriously. Balta1701
Every single person in this thread (except for the Twins fan, if he's here) should be raising a glass to Jon Garland right now.

I said that there's no chance Ozzie will take any veteran out of their spot the rest of the way, so there's no point arguing about guys deserving to be in or out. If everyone on this team contributed like that right now we'd be awesome. First off how many of those times he got on did he quickly get himself thrown out? He could be batting .700, if he isn't scoring runs, he's worthless, because he's not going to drive in any and he's going to cost you in the field. They need to have more guys who can generate runs in the line-up.
