He didn't even hit arbitration when he signed that.

That's what the A's do, and that's what TB should do to lock up some of their players.

But there's no chance of that happening with Young and Upton. Both of them will reject offers and play their 6 minimum before signing with the Yankees and Boston.

Supposedly new ownership will finally be taking over for the DRays this off-season...with as many incredibly high draft picks as they've stockpiled over the last few years, if you put a little bit of money into that franchise, they really could start something. They're not incredibly bad right now anyway...they just need to find a way to hold onto some people a little bit longer so that holes don't open up as fast in their lineup.

If they got their salary into Cleveland territory, there's a chance that they could actually make a run at the Wild Card some year. But again, that all depends on ownership.

They have to trade some outfielders for arms. However, they had a chance to get Brandon McCarthy and probably another good arm for Huff and Baez and they blew it. Getting rid of Huff would have been the only smart thing to do. WIth Young, Crawford, Baldelli, Gomes, and Gathright-there was no need ot keep Huff at 7 million. What a clipper-esque organization down there.
