Whitewashed in '05
I just read on yahoo that Delmon is pissed he didn't get promoted as a sept. call up. Even more surprising he said "get your six years and leave." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050916/ap_on_...HNlYwMlJVRPUCUl
nitetrain8601
I don't blame him. They keep holding him down. The guy is supposed to be the next Manny or Vlad. He'd help the White Sox right away. We know Chuck Lamarr would probably ask for the farm for him.
Gene Honda Civic
Upton's agent was complaining too. Neither of them will be signing with the D-Rays after their reserve clause is up.
Balta1701
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Upton's agent was complaining too. Neither of them will be signing with the D-Rays after their reserve clause is up. Can you name any players who you'd expect would be signing with the D-Rays? nitetrain8601
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Can you name any players who you'd expect would be signing with the D-Rays? Not with the way they're doing business. They'll never build up a nice fanbase if they don't do business the right way.
qwerty
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) Carl Crawford. 4 yrs 15.25M He didn't even hit arbitration when he signed that.
Kalapse
QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) He didn't even hit arbitration when he signed that. Which makes it all the more stupid of a move by Crawford.
Whitewashed in '05
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) Carl Crawford. 4 yrs 15.25M Thats sad, I will give thanks to the team that gave me a chance but if their not looking to win, im not looking to stay. I'll play hard 100% while im there but after I don't have to, im gone.
Gene Honda Civic
QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) He didn't even hit arbitration when he signed that. That's what the A's do, and that's what TB should do to lock up some of their players. But there's no chance of that happening with Young and Upton. Both of them will reject offers and play their 6 minimum before signing with the Yankees and Boston.
Antonio Osuna
Well give the kid a Nobel Prize. What a breakthrough discovery.
Balta1701
Supposedly new ownership will finally be taking over for the DRays this off-season...with as many incredibly high draft picks as they've stockpiled over the last few years, if you put a little bit of money into that franchise, they really could start something. They're not incredibly bad right now anyway...they just need to find a way to hold onto some people a little bit longer so that holes don't open up as fast in their lineup. If they got their salary into Cleveland territory, there's a chance that they could actually make a run at the Wild Card some year. But again, that all depends on ownership. Punch and Judy Garland
They have to trade some outfielders for arms. However, they had a chance to get Brandon McCarthy and probably another good arm for Huff and Baez and they blew it. Getting rid of Huff would have been the only smart thing to do. WIth Young, Crawford, Baldelli, Gomes, and Gathright-there was no need ot keep Huff at 7 million. What a clipper-esque organization down there.
