mmmmmbeeer
This team is f***ing doomed with this leadership. 09/19/2005 9:02 PM ET Notes: Jenks, Marte to close 'Closer by situation' dictated by Hermanson's sore back http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws This was posted on whitesox.com right about the time Marte was blowing the game. Heads22
Put Baj out there... Sadly, though, he's been one of our most effective arms as of late. Hell I wouldn't know Neal Cotts plays in Chicago, either.
southsideirish71
QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) This team is f***ing doomed with this leadership. Marte's ERA is now 3.71 with a 1.65WHIP. vs Neal Cotts ERA at 1.92 and a .1.03WHIP Does Ozzie even look at stats.
Kid Gleason
...good lord... why does Ozzie think Marte can get anybody out, much less lefties??? I haven't said it yet...but by placing Marte as our closer...we might really be done for the year. What is Cotts contract like? I would be REALLY pissed if I was that guy. Nothing like rewarding a picther who has been pretty damn solid all year. Edited September 20, 2005 by Kid Gleason
fathom
What did Cotts and Politte do to Ozzie? I guess Viz and Marte deserve the spot over those guys!
witesoxfan
Why not. You've already lost 12.5 games in less than 2 months, why not try to lose 12 more in 2 weeks. I haven't lost hope...but things are looking grim.
SnB
closer by commitee = just adding to the impending doom.
Buehrle>Wood
Over the last 3 seasons, Marte has saved 21 games and has blown an amazing 17 saves. Why wouldn't he be our closer?

You don't known whether to admire Ozzie for sticking with people who don't get the job done or be angry. Joe Borchard is showing some hitting ability, but he sits while Everett and Dye struggle. Anderson was used much more than Borchard and he only had one good game. Why go over the stats and names again. I think they have all been beaten to death. Maybe all this will pay off in the end, but on the other hand we have seen 13 games lopped off our lead too. HeGone!
IMO Ozzie needs to quit sticking up for the people who aren't getting the job done. He's too true to his players and that is what has helped lead to their demise. He should just play the guys who are doing good and give him the best chance to win. Also, sitting a guy will hopefully get their heads out of their asses and help them realize they need to play better.
