Harry Chappas
QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) Now thats definetly not green. You do it because Uribe has been hot, and a single would move Rowand to third with 0 outs. The hit and run is used to create holes on the infield for weaker hitters or directional hitters to have more of a chance to get one through a hole that has been created. It is not for guys that are crushing the ball. Everett is a hit and run guy right now. It forces the guy to shorten his stroke to put the bat on the ball. Not what Uribe should be doing right now. Bad move.

fathom
QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) Dye is a horrible outfielder. He is not even mediocore. Considering that our LF and RF have had very disappointing defensive seasons, it does get funny hearing Hawk continue to praise their defense this year. Felix
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) The hit and run is used to create holes on the infield for weaker hitters or directional hitters to have more of a chance to get one through a hole that has been created. It is not for guys that are crushing the ball. Everett is a hit and run guy right now. It forces the guy to shorten his stroke to put the bat on the ball. Not what Uribe should be doing right now. Bad move. The hit and run is used with batters who are good at putting the bat on the ball, which Uribe has been. And since Uribe has been hot, a gapper would have scored Rowand since he was going, and a single would have moved him to third. Again, just a good play by Boone. fathom
QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) But you havent blamed Ozzie yet! You even said he made a good call! I guess that will change by the time the bullpen is used. Here's my one complaint I have about Ozzie: he seems to have a hard time just subbing one player into the lineup. Rather, he feels like it has to be 2 or 3 at a time. He's on the record saying he's going with this lineup every game for the rest of the season. That's fine you want to go with your core, but is it so bad to maybe rest Everett for a night?
