The last ten (happy thought)

.500 the rest of the way and we are in no ifs, ands, or buts about it (see other post). Yesterday the WC number was 9 remove three losses guaranteed by either NY or Boston (or some collection of either) and we are in. If we do not go .500 in the next 8 we do not deserve to be anywhere near the playoffs and have choked and deserve the ridicule bestowed upon us. No tipping your f***ing hat to the other teams pitcher and crap like that, after tonight.

Be that as it may. Somehow I get the feeling Kansas City and Tampa will help us out and this thing will be done by the time we get to Cleveland.

Match-ups in the final series

Millwood-Buerhle

Westbrook- Garland/Hernandez (get my drift)

McCarthy/Hernandez - Elarton

We could bring Count back as well as Cleveland could bring Lee back on three days rest.

Bonderman and Radke are done we need to do our job as we will go into the last ten games with a 2 game lead (after tonight) and WE ARE PLAYING WEAKER TEAMS (outside of tonight) THAN THE INDIANS RIGHT NOW AND IT IS TIME TO DO OUR f***ING JOBS I DON'T CARE WHAT THE OPPONENTS RECORD IS!!!!!!!!!

Tampa Bay helped us greatly this week I think they will again next (they swept Cleveland in Cleveland a month back, I believe.)

Time to see how much heart we have.

I couldn't agree more. If we can go 4-3 against Minny and Detroit (which we better), and then win 1 in Cleveland, that's 96 wins and I can't see us not making the playoffs in that scenario. Like I've said before, I don't care about the division at this point. With Cleveland playing KC and Tampa, you can't count on that. You just have to make the playoffs, period. If we can't go 4-3 against the Twins and Tigers, then you're right, this team has no business in the playoffs anyway.

Personally I do care about the division but I agree with the spirit of the post. Great post by Jenks Heat, that pretty much sums it up. The reality is the White Sox have to take care of their own business. I would like to see the Tigers win a game or two before next Monday because they have some guys with pride and long losing streaks have a way of being broken at the most inopportune times.

The magic number for the wild card is really six. Wildcard Magic number is officially 8. But with New York and Boston in a virtual tie. One of them will lose 2 games in that last series.

Those two teams are not going to win out till that series. They are not that good.

We should get in, unless we do something f***ing stupid.

They ALWAYS kill the Sox when it matters most.  That's the part that sucks.

So painful but so true. They have killed us the last couple of years. I'm not counting on anything. These last three games with Cleveland have drained me. I'm assuming that Cleveland is going to win every single game they play until the Sox come to town. Rooting for KC or Tampa to help is lke pulling for the generals to beat the globetrotters. If anybody's going to beat Cleveland it'll have to be the Sox.

Not trying to kick a dog while he is down but I am counting tonight as a loss thus giving us a 2 game lead.  I did not realize Cleveland played tonight I thought they were off.

As am I. Cleveland's next off day is Monday. Then they play TB.

I'm not underestimating the fact that Cleveland could have a pretty big letdown after a huge series with the Sox (as well as looking ahead). Tampa's played fairly well as of late...and hopefully KC can pull their head's out of their asses for at least one game.

You're right, we should be able to wrap this thing up with the easy schedule we have ahead of us and hopefully not have to worry about that final series in Cleveland. If it does turn out that we have to win that Cleveland series to get in the playoffs, I like the matchups and think we could possibly put Count in there somewhere, as he continues to be lights out. If he continues to pitch this way we should pitch him against the Tribe even on 3 days rest, because I like our chances with him better than our chances with Duque, plus, being the end of the season it would give him a couple extra off days before his first start in the postseason.
