Baby dies in fire after electricity cut off

Dire Convergence of Events Leads to Infant's Death in Fire

It started, family members said, with a tiny candle burning on the wall of the bedroom where the 10-month-old boy wouldn't sleep in the dark. The power company had shut off electricity the previous week, and a request for city assistance became stuck in the bureaucracy.

"What did I do to deserve this?" Flores, her eyes filled with tears, said yesterday.

What did you do? Let me help explain it lady.

You started a small fire in your baby's room then left, leaving an 83 year old person in charge. Leaving a fire burning is STUPID. A candle is a fire. It isn't the city's fault for not giving you the money to pay your electricty bill. It is your fault for leaving a fire burning and leaving. Damn, people are so stupid.

:pray for the baby.

But Tex, that means that she would have to take personal responsibility! Don't you know that it is always George Bush's fault?

On another note, the story is also illustrates a good reason for immigrants here to LEARN ENGLISH!

The students scrambled down the two-story balcony and raced to the Columbia Heights apartment building across the alley to try to rush in and help. But they could not enter at first because they did not know the security code, and the residents screaming from the balcony of the burning building spoke Spanish.

Actually it's always Clinton's fault. Bin Laden, the economy, global warming
