kevin57
Let me premise this thread with the absolute affirmation that never, ever would I want the Sox to lose. That said, if Boston and Cleveland are forced to play on Monday, do we gain a little edge in terms of rest for the playoffs? The only way for that to happen is for Cleveland to win tomorrow. greasywheels121
Boston HAS to lose too.
Punch and Judy Garland
I agree, on the other hand-doesn't it give the one game playoff team significant momentum? I think if the Red Sox were to fail to win tomorrow and still make the playoffs they would go in on a real down note.
WSoxMatt
And if Cleveland wins on Monday, we play a WELL RESTED LAA TEAM... NO THANKS

It seems teams that get in that way are just happy knowing they got in the playoffs. Anyway, chances are if we face Boston that we would face Clement in the first game. That's a very winnable game. NO THANKS Or the yankees. EDIT: Actually this isn't true, anaheim can get homefield over the yanks but if that happens it means the bosox win the wildcard. Heads22
I never like to lose, but it's not like I'll lose sleep over it happening tomorrow.
Wanne
I'm not sure I like a long layoff...being rested is one thing...but too long a lay isn't good IMO. Personally...I'd rather have my starters at least get some ABs and a few innings on the field. The pitchers...yes...I'd give them a rest...but position players...not so much. I think the momentum gained from sweeping our rival would outstrip one more day of rest for us going into the playoffs. Just my opinion though. Just my opinion though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They don't just represent our rival this year. They represent the media darlings. I think it would put the team on an ultra-high & that's what you want facing BOS on Tues.
the People's Champ
that would be just what we need, allow Cleveland to get into the post season, and in turn, giving them another opportunity to ruin our season. NO WAY my philosophy: eliminate them while you have the chance
