Possible 2006 radio preview?

Taking a swing

Ron Kittle teamed with Mike Adamle on Sunday afternoon at WSCR, assessing the White Sox. Earlier, former Sox outfielder John Cangelosi did a stint on the air.

WSCR has talked to Kittle and Cangelosi about the vacancy in the Sox's radio booth. The station is looking for a new analyst to join Ed Farmer in 2006.

Though station officials didn't call it a tryout, obviously they want to hear how the two do behind the microphone. Kittle sounded good Sunday. You know Kittle will never be at a loss for words.

hey, how about beltin' bill melton?

Good heavens no. We don't need somebody who will yell about how this isn't Reinsdorf's fault after each dropped fly ball or bad at-bat.

I'd personally like to see Farmer-DJ, with DJ as PBP, but since Farmer is being "promoted" that won't happen. Kittle would be interesting.

Black Jack McDowell

he was on Chet Kopik last night and said he would not be interested in doing radio or TV. He said when he does come back to the game it will be to coach.

He also had some great insight into the upcoming series and how Ozzie will not panic and so forth. He gave a lot of props to the Sox.

Black Jack McDowell

I thought Black Jack was awesome when he was filling in for Hawk earlier this year. I'd take him in a second. Doubt it'll happen though.

I actually think I'll be satisfied as long as it isn't Mike North.

I have a real problem with inexperienced people in the radio booth. TV is one thing because you can at least see what is happening. Maybe I'm just bitter over losing John Rooney, but it would be so typical for the Sox and the Score to hire someone cheap along a play-by-play guy who in the process of ralking insessantly, describes very little.

An interesting bit in the Trib today... Could it mean something? LET THE RUMOR MILL BEGIN CHURNING!!!

Steve Stone, who pitched for the White Sox in the 1970s, chatted on the field with Sox chairman and longtime friend Jerry Reinsdorf before Wednesday night's Game 2. Stone, who left the Cubs broadcast booth after the 2004 season, said, "This certainly has been a different kind of year for me." Stone is as a baseball analyst for WSCR and assorted games on ESPN.
