SSH2005
http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/Headline_...10/idiot_1.html "...You want to put people in the seats and I'm the kind of guy who can do that. I'm looking for five plus. I'm looking for a lot. For what I bring to the table night in and night in. We know how good Manny and David are, but I also help them look real good. They make me look real good." -- Johnny Damon immediately after a season-ending devastating loss

SSH2005
Go get the money, dickhead. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's nice to know that Damon was really concerned with winning and his teammates instead of his own personal finances for next year. What a gamer! :rolly
nitetrain8601
I'm sure he will be gone next year and see if he could single handedly fill up Dodger Stadium or wherever he plays.
Kalapse
I'm pretty sure most people don't go to Red Sox games to see Johnny Damon play, singles/doubles and the occasional stolen base aren't exactly crowd pleasing.

redandwhite
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 04:20 AM) His 15 minutes are just about up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The guy is one of the best centerfielders in the game, his fifteen minutes are not up. However, its been every single series that he's come out with the same old bs, and if there are positives from my perspective as a Red Sox fan, its that today was Damons last game in a Red Sox uniform. GoodAsGould
I always thought he was one of the better leadoff hitters in the game and isnt he a fan favorite in Boston?

He still has a noodle-arm. But I agree that he is as good as gone from the Red Sox. Watch the Yankees sign him.
Whitewashed in '05
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) Offensively, maybe. He still has a noodle-arm. But I agree that he is as good as gone from the Red Sox. Watch the Yankees sign him. That won't surprise me, it seems like you always see a few players from the Yanks on the Red Sox and vice versa. They just like to pick up each others dump, not that Damon is Bostons dump but you know what I mean.

He's definitly one of the best, if not the best, leadoff hitters in the game. Edited October 8, 2005 by redandwhite
redandwhite
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 05:13 AM) Offensively, maybe. He still has a noodle-arm. But I agree that he is as good as gone from the Red Sox. Watch the Yankees sign him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No doubt about his noodle-arm, he still plays a fearless defense in center similar to Aaron Rowand, and his offensive ability speaks for itself. The Yankees signing him? Definite possibility, he'll go anywhere that pays him. Summer Sports Illustrated article on Damon: Red Sox caveman Johnny Damon, oblivious to the fact that it's really, really getting on our nerves, again promised to cut his hair and beard to conform to George Steinbrenner's dress code if he is picked up by the Yankees next year. ``Absolutely,'' Damon tells Sports Illustrated, ``I'd definitely abide by his rules.'' Johnny is, of course, a free agent after this season and seems committed to cutting, if necessary, despite the fact he claims women are always telling him, ``I'd just like to pull on your hair all night long.'' ``Sometimes they hit on me right in front of my wife!'' he says. ``I mean, women are relentless, man, relentless.'' They just like to pick up each others dump, not that Damon is Bostons dump but you know what I mean. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know about dump, but some Yankees become Red Sox, and some Red Sox become Yankees, just as some White Sox players become Indians or Royals or whatever it may be. The team that picks up the Red Sox trash would be the Cubs. One year it was Damon Buford, Darren Lewis, Troy O'leary, Ron Mahay... who am I forgetting. Two more, ah go look it up on baseball reference if your interested.

SSH2005
Johnny Damon is the guy that Yankees fans ripped on all these years but when he signs with New York, he will be a fan favorite. Kalapse
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) which one? Try both. I think taking your batting gloves off at home plate may be one of the most classless things a ballplayer can do.
