The reason his ERA is in the 3's is because other pitchers bail him out. I recall this one time in Cleveland at the beginning of the season Marte was put in and walked 2 batters. Shingo was brought in and bailed him out by striking out Aaron Boone. That happened almost everytime he pitched. This was the one that came to me first though.
