Wanne
was a microcosm from ending it in the 9th with a 2-run jack. He hit the f*** outta the ball (again). That and Jose hangin' tough after a horses*** 3rd and a huge mistake to Andersen. One of the things they did show on BBTN...all of Andersen's jacks recently...the pitch was pretty much in the same place...low and in. So...for as pissed as I am....I think we're gonna bounce back. AJ will WILL this team to a win (as long as he stays on the f***in base).
fathom
I know what you're saying, but we were also a few feet away from Vlad putting the game out of reach in the 8th. There's no moral victories at this point in the season. Win...or go home! Tomorrow is a HUGE game, and we'll be in a big hole if we lose. greg775
If we won on a walk off homer the series would have been ours. Case closed. Now it's a dogfite. Like fathom said if we lose 2 at home ... yikes. We may be in deep deep trouble. It will take a miracle to overcome 0-2 heading to Cali. Punch and Judy Garland
Don't listen to anone who calls tomorrow a must-win-they don't know what they are talking about. That said, things get dicey if we lose so its a big game. I think the Hurly-Buehrle man comes up big and we win a close one. One thing that worries/intrigues me is that with the winds and the tough pitching tonight-there were a lot of snorts and jamshots that did not fall that may tomorrow. Those could lead to big innings for either team

YASNY
Tonight's was just an ugly ballgame by the Sox. Contreras did not find his groove soon enough and he screwed up by not going to home on that play. Uribe almost pulled a Jerry Dybzinski move. Inability to get get the sac bunts when needed, and not having AJ bunt in the 7th. A poor all around performance.
Punch and Judy Garland
YASNY, you cannot-cannot-cannot call Jose's performance anything less than stellar. 8 1/3 3 runs with fewer baserunners than IP? Great outing. Unfortunately, the Angels did a great job of executing against us. It's hard for Jose to pitch shutouts because he is so easy to steal on so if a team decently executes once or twice-there will be a couple of runs. Jose has pitched his way on to the untradeable list of the Sox-$9 million in salary be damned

Punch and Judy Garland
You apparently watched a different game then me. Oh well, let's hope Marky throws a game that we can all agree on as being great tomorrow
SSH2005
Contreras held the Angels to 3 runs in 8.1 innings. You can't ask much more than that. Our offense has to score more than 2 runs off of Paul Byrd. Contreras can't hit for himself. Edited October 12, 2005 by SSH2005

For as much as the missed bunt attempts have been spoken of...if I was going to mention somebody that nobody really has brought up...Paulie really had a crappy night. He hit one off the end of the bat for a deep out to center....but his AB with runners at 1st and 2nd was the game IMO. I'm not puttin this on PK at all...but that was THE AB in the game for the Sox. LosMediasBlancas
I expect a big game from Gooch tonight. The few times he's f***ed up this year, he has alwyas bounced back in a huge way. In fact, he hit one to the wall last night after his error. It's coming.
Wedge
Jose's effort should have been a win. The offense owes him in Game 5.
bjm676
We can't be perfect every game. -But Podsednik's "bunt" was pathetic, then he was caught looking. -Rowand squaring around early, letting Figgins move in far enough to make the play on Ozuna -Why was Dye bunting to lead off the 6th? -Why didn't Contereras get the runner at home? All these things were on my mind last night as the Sox looked like the team that was flying around the country with no rest. Let's get them tonight. BigSqwert
QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) He was stellar .... from the 4th inning on. He grooved one to Anderson and was shaky in the 3rd. I disagree about the 3rd. Poor defensive decisions made that inning worse than it should have been. They didn't hit Jose very hard at all in that inning. Crede's hesitation on the bunt and Jose's decision to go for a double play instead of throwing home made the difference.
