whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) Ha, we've had this gtown convo before. Yes, as of now their guards are their achilles heel but a team that plays the type of defense they do, along with not turning the ball over much and having a stud in Brandon Bowman has one hell of a s*** to make it to Indy. Obviously jmo. And I will just say, as always, it comes down to the bracket.

THEWOOD
I havent had a chance to post since the last couple days until now. I just wanted to say to all UW fans that your team played a hell of a game lastnight. You definitely found a way to stop OSUs hot hand, by playing great perimeter defense. Luckily for OSU they have 5 games left and only one poses a problem and that is going to be at MSU. That being said I dont think anyone will catch IOWA, as much as it pains me to say. So UW congrats on a good win.
Rowand44
Marquette up 7 in Milwaukee against gtown with around 9 to go. This win might be the W that puts Marquette in the tourny. They have a very solid rpi and with wins over UCONN and gtown they should have no problem getting in, barring a collapse of course.

Palehosefan
Speaking of Marquette, I'm in love with their freshmen backcourt, those guys are going to be something very special. I'm watching McNeal especially closely, as he's reminding me of a young certain somebody that used to play for Marquette.

CWSGuy406
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 04:01 AM) Speaking of Marquette, I'm in love with their freshmen backcourt, those guys are going to be something very special. I'm watching McNeal especially closely, as he's reminding me of a young certain somebody that used to play for Marquette. I had the "honor" of playing against McNeal (twice), as Hillcrest was in the SICA, the conference my high school (Oak Forest) is in. They played this 1-3-1 trap that absolutely ate teams alive. They also had another D1 player, Maurice Acker (Ball State). Those two were amazing... The only thing I can say about McNeal is that he isn't a great shooter. He's quick as hell, however, on the one-two dribble move to the basket, and he can also pull up and hit the jumper. And, as you guys have already seen, he's quite the defender. I don't know if he'll ever be able to shoot well enough to be like Mr. Wade, but I'm rooting for him. He was a really nice guy, on top of being the second best high school player I've ever seen live (Julian Wright gets the #1 honor).

Come on, Rowand, I wanted to give the impression that I was a starter. Thanks for ruining my plan... I did hit a three against Hillcrest. It was awesome... Kid drove to the basket, kicked it out to me, and I buried it. And held my hand up running down the court. Probably looked like an idiot, as we were down by 20, but I didn't care -- it's all about me, baby.
Soxbadger
Thanks Rock, I actually didnt get to see the game because Illinois was on. Unfortunately for OSU they caught Wisconsin when they are actually playing well. Wisconsin just needs to play 1 game at a time, and basically win every game. I dont know if that is possible, but I guess Bo Ryan has a really good record against Izzo, and if some how they could make so the final game against Iowa decides the champ who knows what can happen. Losing to Purdue really hurt more than the Illinois loss. And the difference is Iowa hasnt lost to a PSU or Purdue, so hopefully Minnesota can beat them. That Minnesota press can be tricky and maybe Grier will be unstoppable. Pretty unlikely but at one point Wisconsin looked like a team that was close to being out of the tournament, so maybe its just that optimism. At one point, I was considering not shooting the ball the rest of the year when I came off the bench. I was 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, clearly the best shooter in the conference (can't beat 100% ). That didn't last long. I remember my first miss. Our coach was subbing in five guys at a time in this Lincoln Way East Tourney, and he subbed me in in the first quarter. I was so f***ing nervous. I had a wide open three coming off of a screen, and I must have missed the rim by a good three-four feet. I couldn't help it -- my hands were shaking so bad... Yup -- my fall from basketball greatness is almost like Sammy Sosa's... Edited February 17, 2006 by CWSGuy406

Palehosefan
I really like BC's athletecism, combined with Tyrese's PG talent. You guys should have 2nd place in the ACC locked up, and should end up with a 3 seed in the tourney in my opinion. The only fault I see, is the basketball IQ on the flooor. You have ALOT of athletecism all over the court, but some guys that don't make great decisions on the floor. With the right bracket, I could see an elite 8 team. Rice just has to cut down on the TO's to allow his playing time to increase, as he's matchup hell for any opposing PG or defense for that matter. ZoomSlowik
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 02:36 AM) Hmm...I don't know. I know there's a big ten bias on here, but I could see a few bottom-half BE teams possibly competing for a league title in the big ten... Louisville and Notre Dame are better than your average dog teams, but I still don't think they're league champ material in the Big Ten (maybe in the PAC 10, but that's another story). Those teams both have their problems, and Louisville still would have been battling injuries most of the year. Even taking that into account, there are still some pretty bad teams in the conference like South Florida, DePaul, St. Johns (although they did come up with two fairly big wins), Providence, and frankly Rutgers isn't that good (Douby is a stud though). I don't think any of those teams are any better than Penn State or NU.
