greasywheels121
Not sure how this is a make or break, being that nobody wins on the road in this conference. I don't think anyone would expect us to win this, and I don't. However, we could definitely look better than we have recently, now that we have closure to Davis' situation. We'll see. I won't be around here for the game; IU's allowing us to watch the game in our AH on the new scoreboard. And I don't think many will be there, with where our season is now. I don't have a problem with that though, it'll be nice.

If they come out, play reasonably well, put forth a good effort and are competitive, there will be hope for the remaining games. If they come out and lay an egg and lose by 37 points, then there is no hope. So I don't believe it is a must win game, but I do think how they react and play on the court is very important if there is any hope of finding a way into the NCAA Tournament. What does he know anyway?? IU IS a no go for the Tourney if they keep playing as they have been. That's not going out on too big of a limb. But Penn State is winnable, as is Purdue. If they can find a way to beat Michigan State at home or Michigan on the road and win two games in the Big Ten Tournament, then they're in, period. It's a tall order based on the recent turn of events and how they are playing, but the talent is there to do that much, if they would relax and pull their heads out of their collective asses. You just had this whole Mike Davis thing, don't have a ton to play for (as far as winning the conference), and we have been struggling as of late - at home no less - and should want to make a statement. If we don't look very impressive and win by at least 10 then i'll be disappointed. I'll be interested to see how IU plays though. I would expect a sort of roll-over, but you just never know. I guess the line is 11 pts at this point and i wouldn't touch it if i were betting.

Obviously their emotions are running high, thinking their coach got a raw deal. You never know whether they will come out and roll over at the first Illini run or if they will come out hot, stick around for awhile, gain some confidence and forget all about everything and just play. I'm not expecting a win by any means, but it would be nice to stay competitive. Krush, I doubt you are old enough to remember the day when Knight got pissed at his upperclassmen and decided to send 5 freshmen on the floor to get slaughtered against Illinios. IU had no chance that day. Unfortunately, I have the same kind of feeling today. Edited February 19, 2006 by Rex Hudler

That being said, i know how we SHOULD come out. I'm sick of this team's crap already. Play a solid 40 minutes of basketball, especially at home. It's Paint The Hall Orange night today, which is hailed all year as the biggest home game of the year. It's the most hyped up, etc. So the crowd should be pretty solid, and i'm sure we want to avenge our loss in Bloomington. And no, i don't remember the knight sending 5 freshman out there. That's a knight thing to do though, isn't it? Brutal. We'll see what happens.

Jordan4life_2007
Palehose, can you give me a scouting report on Tyler Hansbrough? I must say I didn't pay much attention to this guy until the 40 point explosion last week. He looks like howdy doody, but he's got game.

In terms of pure fundementals, he's the best big man I've seen in the NCAA since Antawn Jamison. Oh, and these Indiana guys need to quit getting dunked on, it's getting pretty ridiculous. whitesoxfan101
Illini win 70-58. At 13-10 and 5-7, Indiana still has work to do to make the dance IMO, although their schedule isn't too difficult considering how bad it could be.

Now if Auggy can start playing like this consistently, will be dangerous. Off topic: Reddick already has 11 points with 15:26 to go in the first half. Yeah, I'm sure he pays no attention to Morrison. The scoring title means nothing to him.
IlliniKrush
Pretty solid game all around. Big game by Augie, nice games by Randle and Carter. Did we have enough highlight dunks for everyone? Randle over Marco = pwn3d. Wow. The three point shooting on both sides was atrocius. Good call by IU playing a zone. Jamar Smith, whatever the hell he did, hurt us this game. At any given time we only had 1 or 2 guys who could shoot from outside in the game, and the ball was around the perimter a ton. We really could have used him to take some shots against that zone. IU put up a fight, but they didn't hit shots when they needed to in order to cut the gap. Also, the officiating in the 2nd half was pretty suspect, but at least it didn't affect the outcome.
