fathom
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 05:53 AM) He won't end up at Illinois as long as his brother is running the show, no chance in hell. I had bad feelings about that since I read it 6 weeks ago, seeing as his brother is a failed athlete trying to live through his brother. This isn't going in a good direction at all. I just read the whole Rose thread on the illiniboard, and here's the problem I have with these accusations.....say Rose does end up going to Illinois. Does this mean that Weber paid him to go there? From my experience working around collegiate athletic departments, all major programs are dirty.

IlliniKrush
Damn, that's a lot of interesting dirt on Rose. If it's as dirty as you guys say, then i don't want any part of him, just not worth it.
Jordan4life_2007
MSU is seriously underachieving. That team has way too much talent to be so inconsistent.

That team has way too much talent to be so inconsistent. They have the same issues as Gonzaga this year, not tough enough on the glass or defense to win the big game. Izzo is a smart man though, and he could have them in the Final 4 for all we know, which is in part (along with his just not being an asswipe like most great coaches) why I like him so much. The best Izzo teams have always had a ton of depth in the frontcourt, and I really think that is the weakness of this MSU team, beyond Davis there is not much there. They could absolutely make a run deep in the tourney because of their big 3, but the Izzo teams I remember always had bigs they could keep throwing at you. They are the most talented scoring team in the big 10, but the role players just are not there.
Heads22
Jason, you may want to check your facts. I'm pretty damn sure Hinrich comitted to Iowa State. Edit: Yep. http://www.kusports.com/basketball/roster/02-03/hinrich.html

IlliniKrush
Aboz what in God's name is going on with MSU? As much as i'm a bit disappointed with the Illini, MSU fans must be really upset/pissed right now. This team is better than a 7-6 record in conference, on paper at least. ZoomSlowik
I'm definitely mystified by this MSU team. On paper, they looked like a top 5 team that could run away with the conference. It just hasn't materialized though. Even taking the Ager/Brown/Davis trio out of the equation, guys like Gray and Trannon are awesome athletes that could be making as big an impact as Randle (or bigger), and Neitzel seems to have enough talent to be a top PG. They just haven't been consistent enough though. What's funny is I felt the same way about their team last year, only obviously the PG spot was a bigger issue. This just seems like a team that could beat anyone if they went out their and played their best game, but they never seem to do it. I shudder to think of what they would be doing if Weber was coaching that level of talent.

Heads22
So, there's a guy that projects NIT brackets these days. Greasy, you could get quite a few more home games. The guy did these predictions after last weekend.
greasywheels121
We're not in that yet. If we get 3 more wins, that should be good enough for the Tourney. And no one would show for the NIT game(s), if they ended up in there. Especially since it's during spring break.

While Weber is a very good coach, Izzo just has had far more success at this point. We can compare Weber to Izzo when he has won a NC and been to a couple more final 4s. Far to early in Weber's career to make a good comparison.

The Illini need sustained success before you can really argue who's better.
