Pods has been quoted many times in the last month saying it's not the injury, it's his timing and confidence.

Even when he's getting good jumps he's not getting in there for the most part, trust me a groin injury slows you down big time. Some big leaguers just won't make excuses...so that would explain scott not blaming the injury.

Yep, I heard the same thing out of Podsednik's own mouth.  He's not using the injury as an excuse so why are people here using it as one?

Pods isn't going to admit he's bothered.

These announcers really suck. Yes, the Sox have benefitted from some blown calls, but let's face it, if it were the Red Sox or Spanks, you would NEVER hear "the ump screwed up." Yes, the umps have botched calls, but STFU about it already - talking it about it until they are blue in the face isn't going to change a bloody thing.

i agree the injury has something to do with pods' ineffectual running. you can tell because it's not just the jumps, it's his overall speed. he's just slower than he was a few months ago. confidence doesn't make you slower, it messes with your decision-making. so even if he's not using it as an excuse, it may be the case. sometimes players don't like to admit they're struggling cuz of physical limitation.

The thing is, I see him running the bases, like on a single into the outfield, and he seems to be running fine. I know a groin injury can really hamper a runner (I was all about that fact when people were thinking Pods was going to automatically jump start this offense when he came back). However, I think that Pods never regain the confidence after the injury, and being caught stealing so frequently has made it even harder for him. Lately, he's been going on the first pitch, and the other team knew it was coming. He just went on a 2-0 pitch, and had a much easier time.

He doesn't get up to speed as fast as he did before. If his hammy was hurting then it will take a long time to heal completely.

I just kinda ignore the announcers, cause I know that if it was us getting screwed on these calls I would be pissed off as hell and I'd wnat to hear the announcers talking about it. So i understand it. I dont' mind it though. Let them keep on b****ing until we get to the WS.
