elrockinMT
Report was that the Cardinals have told Finley they need a relief pitcher and won't be attempting to sign him. Do we need another starter with experience while our youngsters have more time to work out their problems in AAA? If we were to sign Finley it might make someone expendable in the bullpen or other position for a trade.
Winning Ugly
Won't happen although would LOVE to see another lefty in the rotation behind Colon, Buehrle and Loaiza. He wants, what? 3 mil? JR won't fork it up.
soxfaninbeverly
not only is he looking for 3 million bucks, I believe, and I may be wrong, but I think St. Louis was trying to get some draft picks for him as well.

Finley is a free agent , no picks are involved anyone is free to sign him .
The Critic
If he costs money, he won't be here. I'm not sure if he's the guy I'd want anyway. The Sox can use a reliable starter in the 4 or 5 slot though, for sure.
Chisoxfn
I don't know if it changed, but they would get 2nd round compensation if I recall. It may of even been first round, but maybe since May 1st passed things changed?
whitesox247
I wouldnt mind having Finley around for a year or two. I love Garland, but he isnt getting the job done right now. We can pick up Finley and trade Garland for some offense, how does that sound?
Jim Fainter
Trade R. White for Finley, but not Garland.
IlliniKrush
Could be worth looking into...maybe. Although with Wright strong tonight i'd hold off. Plus, do we want a pitcher on this team who got beat up by his own wife?

YASNY
If I understand correctly, Finley would cost any team a first round pick until after the actual draft. At that point, he becomes fair game.
Guest hotsoxchick1
well whats the difference... we wont get a first round pick anyhow ... and if we did he would end up being traded to beane anyway......

IlliniKrush
There's no way in hell i'd give up a 1st round pick to sign sissy Chuck Finley
Wong & Owens
Chuck Finley has been around almost as long as Charlie O. Finley. He might be worth it if the Sox are in serious contention, but I don't think he puts you over the top if they're 5-6 games out.
Guest hotsoxchick1
Now you are really jumping to conclusions! I was thinking of that excerpt from the Beane book about the Sox drafting Ring and letting that RHSP drop to Beane.
