Diesel Prices

Recommended Posts

Why are diesel prices raising as much as gasoline prices are lowering? Diesel prices are worse than ever as gas prices are getting.. a little better. My dad owns a trucking company and says with the current prices it costs him about a dollar per mile to run his trucks. He says that's about all that is paid to you. Anyone know what the hell is going on? It will soon KILL the economy.

Diesel prices suck first of all because of the additional taxes charged to diesel. Diesel is also the fuel that demand stays the steadiest. Your dad can't, and I can't, run our businesses without diesel. We can try and conserve, but trucks, trains, heavy equipment, etc. run to keep businesses going. Personal vehicles get parked and demand drops for gas.

One suggestion that some companies are doing is adding a temporary fuel surcharge to invoices. Some customers will complain, others understand and accept it.

He's done that, and raised prices in general too, but yesterday it hit 4 bucks a pop here and theres just not much he can do about it. Demand doesn't go down.

In my case I need it to heat water to make cleaning faster and easier. It is almost a situation now where my labor savings don't equal my fuel costs. Before it was an easy conparison.
