kapkomet
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) This would be the greatest comeback in Sox history tonight. They don't have a lick of momentum in this game, and you can tell the Astros sense this game is locked up already. Probably because it is. They are FLAT tonight. jphat007
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) I'm not one of the Friends of Judy posters, but I've long thought that main thing that keeps Garland from being a top-notch MLB pitcher is his lack of consistent toughness. I know he's a laid-back guy, but sometimes when the game gets intense, you need to match that intensity. Not to get annoying, but we're not facing Vlad and company anymore. These guys have taken great swings throughout this series, and in a way, we're lucky we're up 2-0 coming into today. I don't care what he is, but saying a pitcher in teh world series with 18 wins doesn't have toughness is just stupid to me. He's been awesome all year. He's had one bad game. s*** happens. It has nothing to do with Jon's toughness.
greg775
We need to keep it at 4-0. A blowout is not what you want down 2 games to none. If the Stros are gonna catch us, we need them to sweat it out.
SSH2005
Plenty of pitchers succeed without showing an ounce of toughness. Let's find other things wrong with Jon like his control or consistency before attacking his character. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Like I said earlier, he's throwing mostly straight meatballs. fathom
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Plenty of pitchers succeed without showing an ounce of toughness. Let's find other things wrong with Jon like his control or consistency before attacking his character. Would it be better if I said intensity instead of toughness? I meant it more in regards to physical attribute rather than emotional/mental attributre.
Punch and Judy Garland
Maybe two long layoffs in a row is showing up in his command. Maybe, this woul dhave happened no matter what. Even when starters start every 5th day, sometimes they gt knocked around for no apparent reason. This game feels out of reach even tough its not. Bad feeling to have huh? mr_genius
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) Why? That ball was absolutely smoked. I happen to enjoy this field, as it brings another dimension to games. that ball has nothing to do with how crappy this park is look at the dimensions, it's a joke park. greg775
I agree it has nothing to do with his toughness. People say such stupid things. If he doesn't have good stuff, he doesn't have it.

Texsox
So much more baseball to be played. We've done everything this post season except a comeback from 5 or 6 runs down. Won't that be sooooo cool?! No worries y'all.
greg775
Now he gets 3 quick outs. Is Jon simply rusty and now he's gonna excel the rest of the way?
SSH2005
That was a double <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Buck said it may have been left of the yellow homerun line. Let's see if they actually replay it like they did with all of the Sox calls.

Maybe, this woul dhave happened no matter what. Even when starters start every 5th day, sometimes they gt knocked around for no apparent reason. This game feels out of reach even tough its not. Bad feeling to have huh? We've come back from 4-0 against a pitcher that seemed to be in control in the postseason. I know it's a much different pitcher on the mound but I find it hard to believe that anyone would give up on this team after what they've done all season and all postseason. Whatever though, to each his own, turn off the tv if you guys think the game is over.
SoxPhan7
that was not a homerun. Finally the astros are catching some breaks. And to be honest i dont care in a game like this where it doesnt look like the sox are going to score at all. We can now stop hearing about how the sox are only winning because of all the breaks they are getting.
