Clemens Situation

Every one of the Astros coaches/players that gets asked about Rocket just acts dumb as if they didn't even know he was hurt. When Buck asked the pitching coach about him tonight, it looked like the coach took a deep breath and strarted the spin cycle. Something about "i haven't spoke with anyone about Roger's medical condition today". Your game 1 starter goes out with a bad hammy, he's scheduled to pitch game 5, you're his pitching coach which means you'd probably get tagged for some input for a contingency plan for game 5 if he can't go, and yet you "didn't talk to anyone today"? Give me a break. Rocket is done. They're trying to hide his condition from the Sox so that they don't know who to prepare for in game 5. HUGE advantage pale hose!

Either way, a coverup of the Clemens situation makes some sense.

If he's hurting bad and can't possibly pitch anymore this series, then hiding his status might help his players believe there's hope in Game 5, rather than throwing W-Rod out there.

If he's healthy enough to pitch, hiding his status might be used to lure the Sox into a let down for that game. Also, if he's healthy enough to pitch, he could be used as a secret weapon replacement for Lidge, if the need be.

Dude...you know what popped in my head last night....that his hammy isn't really that bad. He was just gettin f***in rocked...he was gettin beat and knew it...and now he's tryin to do some theatrical bulls*** and pull a Schilling bloody sock s***...that he's such a warrior....pitching with a "blown hamstring" and adding to his legend. I tell ya what...if he has some "miraculous" comeback to pitch later in this series...I'm goin with this story!!!!

I'e watched Clemens in about a dozen starts, including one in person. From the tape I saw, this was not the usual Clemens on the mound. The guy never ducks, I doubt he is playing a thatrical game. It has never been his style before.

My initial fear is that Clemens, the Astros, and the media would make this into a "bloody sock" type of thing (the blood was katsup, by the way). Even if it is, I don't think Roger will be able to capture Schilling's magic.

I was just saying this last night as they were interviewing the pitching coach. There is no way he doesn't know how Clemens is doing!! He knows exactly what is going on with Clemens, he's the f***ing pitching coach!! If he doesn't know how Clemens is doing, then he is a complete moron. :bang

Clem is a competitor and if he didn't go in Game 5, he's hurt really bad. I don't think he was rocked enough to pull this kind of stuff. But who knows.

At this rate, it will be a non issue when Thursday's game isn't necessary.
