The Critic
It's like I tell the Cubbie trolls at my work: It's NOT about the break you get, it's about what you DO with it! If the Astros don't hang a meatball to Paulie, the "controversy" doesn't happen. And that's assuming that Jermaine wouldn't get a big hit anyway - after all, it would have been a foul ball, NOT strike three, and Wheeler was anything but solid in that at-bat. No one is even talking about that play on the stros or what not. Media is trying to make something out of nothing as usual.
The Critic
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) No one is even talking about that play on the stros or what not. Media is trying to make something out of nothing as usual. Well, the Stros understand that it's baseball, and sometimes you catch a break and sometimes you don't. Media dolts need something to talk about, and GOD FORBID they actually credit the Sox with rebounding from blowing a 2-run lead with 2 outs in the 9th. There are too many people talking for too many hours about the same events, so they have to try to differentiate themselves, and some like to manufacture fake controversy to do that. GoodAsGould
Actually for the most part this play hasnt been nearly as bad as the Pieryznski and the catcher one in game 2 of the ALCS..... the 9th inning with both closers blowing it especially Lidge and than Konerko's grandslam has been getting most of attention. A course I dont listen to ESPN radio because other than Mac, Yerko, and Harry its all crap...

I found buck to be the only one complaining, espn didn't dwell on it, they did mention it as they should've but those types of calls are blown all the time, i mean when i happend there was no doubt in my mind he was hit, until they slowed it down and went FRAME BY FRAME on a play that lasted .3 seconds did i realise the error. Texsox
The Sox are not to blame for the poor umpiring. People who try and ignore the umpiring mistakes sound silly IMHO. What should be the story is how the Sox have capitalized on every one of those calls. Balls flying out of the park, runners scoring, etc. I wonder how the Sox ever won the division and produced the best record in the AL without those calls. And no one is talking about Jenks getting squeezed in what I believe were "make up calls".
