rangercal
I've never heard about this. My buddy told me Fox was mentioning about a screw in his elbow during game 1. Is this true?
Kalapse
He had elbow problems when he was in the Angel's minor league system. He had a screw inserted into his elbow while in their system, it's one of the reasons he was placed on waivers. He's throwing 100mph with the screw so it can't be hindering him all that much. bschmaranz
I was also told by a friend of mine (Angels fan) that he was put on waivers so they could make room for.... Josh Paul on their 40-man roster.

Kid Gleason
Yeah, I've heard brief mention of Bobby's "problems". What's the deal with him, how exactly is he a "lunatic"?

Steff
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) Yeah, I've heard brief mention of Bobby's "problems". What's the deal with him, how exactly is he a "lunatic"? It all started when Jenks got suspended from the Angels' Class AA team for repeatedly bringing beer on the bus. From several credible sources he, "in a drunken stupor, took a lighter and burned the backside of his pitching hand, opening a wound the size of a silver dollar. He then torched his left hand and the underside of both forearms — before passing out." He also would refer to his agent, Matt Soshnick, as D.J. — short for Dirty Jew (Jenks has denied this). Soshnick, now one of four former agents of Jenks, told a magazine: "Imagine being in the top five in the world at what you do, and your demons are so terrible that your ability is dwarfed. That's Bobby Jenks. The worst thing that could happen is if he gets to the big leagues. If he gets to the big leagues, he'll free fall. He can't handle success." For a long while, the demons seemed to be winning. Jenks was demoted to Class A, sidelined last year with a serious elbow injury and eventually taken off the Angels' roster last winter. The White Sox, who saw the electric fastball and figured they could work with the attitude, claimed him for $20,000.
Kid Gleason
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) He enjoyed the fire water. Bah...who doesn't??? Hmmm, Bobby seems like a trip! Now I am pulling for him even more. It'd be nice to see the kid turn everything around and become a brilliant pitcher.
Heads22
He seems to have turned it around and it's really hard not to root for the guy. A lot of his settling down has to do with wife/kids too.
RockRaines
Ummm, the screw is from a stress fracture that occurred in his elbow. Also his tendon was split, which the Angels thought would effect his durability and velocity.
