southsideirish71
Hopefully they layer tonight. Its going to be a freezing 65 degrees at gametime, and it might go as low as 57 around end of game. YES!!! "I think it's a disregard to our fans, the comfort of our fans," Astros manager Phil Garner said. greasywheels121
I almost wish they would close the roof, so Fox and ESPN won't b**** about it. ESPN would put an asterisk on this WS, if we did win it all. 2005 World Champion White Sox* *Roof was open for the games in Minute Maid Park
bmags
if the astros lose this is clearly the reason we only had 4,000 tickets per game released to the general public, they can deal with an open roof.

bjm676
The bases are still 90 feet apart, the pitchers' mound is still 60 feet, 6 inches away from home plate. I see no disadvantage. If they wanted to play with the roof closed, don't make the damn thing retractable.
whitesoxin'
The way I look at it is this: We play all of our home games with the DH, but MLB has a rule that when we go to Houston, we will have to bat our pitcher. It is a clear disadvantage to us, but we have to follow the rules of the MLB. So do you, Houston, quit your b****ing.
Punch and Judy Garland
They have no right to b****. Its a f***in rule. Don't like it? Change the rule. The D-Backs had to deal with it and they didn't let that become a hindrance. As a side, baseball is an outdoor game weather permitting and weather permits tonight. Its bad enough they get away with having a friggin hill in center and now they want to claim they are losing home field advantage.

Its bad enough they get away with having a friggin hill in center and now they want to claim they are losing home field advantage. Here is the post of the night on this from the ESPN boards a Diamonbacks fan put this on the Astro board. They did the same thing to us here in Phoenix in 2001. There has been precendent set here, it is not like MLB is just picking on you guys. We would have rather had the roof closed not only because of the increase in fan noise (CF holds 10,000 more than Minute Maid too) but because with the roof and back panles open at Chase Field(formerly Bank One Ballpark) balls carry farther, a lot farther. Schilling used to always want the roof closed and his whining about it caused a little bit of local story for a while. Anyway, I can't believe you guys got to keep it closed for the NLCS, as I recall we had to have ours opened for the NLCS too. Regardless we won both series anyway...... .....nut up, stop whining, and go out and win this freaking thing for the NL.
WSoxMatt
The Astros will have a huge fireworks show tonight so the Houston Fire Marshall also told MLB to keep the roof open!!!
aboz56
They are just mad they can't put on the vents to blow homers out of the park ala the Minnesota Twins. Damn dome cheating teams.
Flash Tizzle
Well, you KNOW the White Sox are winning now. Any opportunity to pass up controversy is impossible with this club. Seriously, aside from one call (Uribe potential caught stealing at 2nd base against the Angels), this team has capitalized on every missed call. In this instance, we're bound to hear "WHITE SOX LUCK OUT AGAIN" if this team wins tonight. As if the extra decibels would have made the difference between a win/loss. Punch and Judy Garland
I don't trust dome teams either. I don't think I should, its too easy to do stuff to influence the game subtley. That was a good post you pulled from the AZ board. Let's hope Oswalt will spot us 3 tonight
3RDBASE
Man I love it when we cheat our way to the top! Thanks MLB! What horses***...they are just mad cause what they thought was their homefield advantage is just bulls***...but they do have the home crowd, so why cant they just yell alil louder than normal...We did here in Chi...no roof I might add! Kick that ass-tros all over Sox! Edited October 26, 2005 by 3RDBASE
Texsox
If mlb said the Sox could not shoot off fireworks, would we be upset? The roof has been closed since June, mlb should have left it closed.

Kalapse
Well atleast the Astros have a built in excuse for why they lost if that's the way it turns out.

Punch and Judy Garland
Does no one on tv get this: this has nothing to do with noise as far as mlb ordering it closed. It has to do with precedent, and there is one.

Texsox
This is how their stadium has been set up since June. Now they are adjusting to their own stadium, that doesn't seem fair. It isn't like they all of a sudden they decided to close the roof. If baseball doesn't like domes, then don't allow teams to build them. Kalapse
The Astros have rules in place regarding the roof, given the temperature and overall weather conditions as of gametime the roof is supposed to be open. MLB controls the roof during the playoffs and they are following the Astros rules.
WHarris1
BUT THE NOISE WOULD MAKE PK GO OFFSIDES AND JON WONT BE ABLE TO HEAR THE PLAYS THEY HAVE TO HAVE IT CLOSED
