fathom
I was obviously upset with bringing in Hermanson over Jenks, but I want a civil conversation with my fellow Sox fans to discuss what they think about the critical pitching move. Buehrle>Wood
I liked it at the time, I admit.
Antonio Osuna
I think it was absolutely ridiculous. Not only does Hermanson have a "Property of Houston Astros" sign on his posterior, but he's also playing injured, he also hasn't pitched in 25 days, and we have better pitchers available. Not just Jenks, but even Cotts probably could have settled down. The only guy I'd trust less than Hermanson right now is Damaso Marte. chisoxfan79
If Cotts and Politte attacked the hitters they walked it wouldn't have come to this.

nitetrain8601
I liked it. Jenks wasn't warmed up yet and this would've been his 3rd consectuive game. A guy who throws that hard needs as much rest as possible. He'll come in the next inning for sure though.

fathom
QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 04:05 AM) jenks wasnt warm yet That's no excuse. That's Ozzie's fault then, as you could sense that situation coming that whole inning. If you want to bring him in the game, you can find a way to stall enough. nitetrain8601
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) What are you resting him for? He had a huge dropoff in velocity from Game 1 to 2. That's because he pitched on consecutive days. Jenks is no Lidge. He can't keep pitching multiple days if he's going to pitch multiple innings. Therefore you only use him in a close situation in the 9th unless he hasn't pitched for 3 or more days.
letsgoarow
im actually gonna agree with nite.... hes not superman... and he doesnt have a bionic arm
fathom
If Jenks isn't superman, then what is Hermanson? Was that really the time to test how his stuff is since he's been off for so long? If you're read what he said in the press, he doesn't seem very confident in his ability. He's said that his back doesn't feel any better, and that he's here if we need him. Not exactly a glowing endorsement of his health.

He's said that his back doesn't feel any better, and that he's here if we need him. Not exactly a glowing endorsement of his health. Hermanson, Marte or Vizcaino? Vizcaino is good if he starts the inning. He sucks at cleaning up others' messes. Marte creates the messes and Hermy usually cleaned them up. I rather go with the guy who's been getting me out of jams than the other two.

whitesoxin'
I thought Cotts was pulled far too early. Neal is healthy and had only faced one batter IIRC.

Cotts seemed to be over throwing the ball. He needed to back off a bit with the adrenaline rush, or whatever.
knightni
Ozzie gave Cotts the premature hook and almost paid for it.

Wedge
My feeling was that if Hermanson couldn't pitch, we'd be better off with McCarty on the roster. I liked seeing Hermanson get in there, but after seeing the results, I stick with my original opinion... we should have McCarthy on the roster and not Hermanson.
