And I wonder why my car already has 10K miles on it. We just bought it in October! Although we were driving out to the house every weekend when it was being built. Daaayyyymmm... Just Sox games so far I've put on 1,680 miles. That does not inclued the work miles. Sheesh.. I'm going to need a new car soon!

I really wish I were able to make it to more games, home being in Bolingbrook (which is just over 20 miles away from Comiskey); however, I don't have a car just yet (am working on getting one this summer); and when I do get that car, I'm gonna have car payments to deal with, as well as tuition bills at ISU to pay for, so my disposable income is very minimal. Hell, I won't be able to afford a ticket plan until my age reaches tripple digits. There's a good reason why I can't make many games.

I'm looking into a 98 or 99 2-door Chevy Cavalier, which would cost me about $5,500 at Carmax. Carmax does a 125 point inspection, so they don't sell s*** there. Dad's gonna help me pick it out, since he knows what to look for.

I still think selling tickets for a dollar like once a month or so would get more and more people out to the park.

And lowering ticket prices would do some good too...and lower it for all games, except the Sox-Cubs games. Keep the Yankees games at the same low price.

explaining the lack of attendance at Sox games is kind of a pet issue of mine.  I just don't see how you market a team to local kids and families, when kids/families sadly don't make up half of any pro sports audience anymore anyways.  If you want some plumber from Homewood with 3 kids to sit through a cold night on a Tuesday to watch the Sox, the Sox better have a real good team to make it worth the effort.  Just going to get blitzed with your friends and showing up for work hungover the next day is for young, single people with disposable income--North siders/Cubs fans.

I'm with you all the way here. The White Sox marketing to families is one of the Organization's pet peeves of mine. They should be marketing to the casual baseball fan with disposable income but, of course, the marketing department doesn't market USCF and the White Sox the way it should to the 18-25 y/o baseball fan.

Who said getting blitzed with your friends and showing up for work hungover the next day is only for sCrUB fans  ?

No. This would only get more idiots out to the park.

Not a pet peeve of mine at all. The Cell should be family friendly and marketed that way. And there are ways to market to the 18-25 demographic that do not include come and get drunk. We have enough image problems with the reaity of drunk fans. And even when I was in the 18-25 demo, I didn't care for the come and get blitzed image - and I drank a lot then. The emphasis should be on come and have fun - and fun does not mean drinking. Hell, those who drink will drink but selling the place as Wrigley South for nonCubs fans is not the atmosphere that I want at games, nor the direction I want marketing to go. There are plenty of people who may have drink or two and want to enjoy a ballgame without the wrigley drunk frat party atmosphere. And sellibg to the 18-25 demographic as a place to come and get blitzed will not do anything to increase attendance - that is a small age group and not one that will be buying seasons tickets or enough tickets in the course of a season to make a diiffernce financially.

The amenities at the Cell are not marketed enough - the bullpen bar is one that should be marketed, by the way. To pitch the place as a fun place is something that needs to be done over the course of a bunch of seasons so that people will think of Comiskey when they are planning a day or evening. A place to go with friends - for sure. That is one of the big attractions for my group - we go to see each other, and having the games as a place to meet is perfect for us.

There is a huge difference between pitching the place as a place to get drunk, and saying that we have this super fine patio and outside area to enjoy the game and add to the experience. That was one of the best features of old Comiskey, under the leftstand grandstand - the picnic area.

I used to live in Tinley and moved to Beverly. I got off the train at 6:30, ran in the house got picked up and was in my seat with two Kosher dogs, brat and two beers by 7:05. I picked up two tickets in the lot for $15/each. 11th row behind the Orilole dugout. Steff if you heard someone berating Joe Crede after grounding into a double play that was me. I went to the can (6 beers later) after the 8th and missed the fun of the ninth. The commute is a breeze and the taxes on my home are a 1/3 of what they were.

Ten $1 hot dogs from gravely voiced hot dog vendor - $10

Two Super Tacos and Super Nacho - $10

Two beers from vendor that never get warm (actually colder the longer they sit there) - $10

Watching Colon drill Jr. and Frank show he is the man - Priceless

Let's kick mansandwich's (Twins 1st base jagoff) ass!

This is a tangent, but let me ride for a while -- I'm in Atlanta, and when the Falcons had new ownership, the first thing they did was mark down season tickets to $100 ($10 a game) for upper-deck seats. After that, getting people in the door, they improved the product on the field (Vick didn't hurt). Look what happened in Toronto when they had the $1 tickets during the SARS scare.

You'd think that having 50K at $1 a pop would beat the heck out of 12K at full price.

I was in 127 row 5.. then 127 row 4 for the last 2 innings (seats 3 and 4). I had my Sox jacket on. I was so into the game, I didn't pay much attention to the crowd.

lets go low ball and say $20.00 a ticket for 12,000 at full prive - that is $240,000.

50,000 at $1 is $50,000.

Which beats the heck out of the other?

and:

Monday is half price

Tuesday is Pepsi $1 day

Thursday is $1 hotdog

Sunday kids get in for $1

if yoiu sign your kids up for Silver and Black Pack ($25) you get a gift and 6 free tickets to a game

I was there Wednesday night. It only drizzled a little at the beginning, and it was not as cold as some of the other games I have been to this year.

I have an easy commute. Only have to get there from Midway airport. Of course the s***ty thing is I have to get home from Schaumburg first after work.

But you aren't adding in extra parking revenue, more suveniers, more concessions etc. I have a feeling that it would end up being a winner for the 50K people.

not if opne doles the math - the greatly added labor costs in the increased concessions and parklng lots isn't going to make up that gap - in fact, the added labor costs would make that gap even greater and the team would eb runniug huge losses -

and since the park holds about 45,000, even to talk of 50,000 is too much that way so that figure is even lower -

if we slash our income to be Tiger of Tampa Bay levels, our payroll will have to be significantly reduced -

and if every seat last night were $1, you think that would have made that many more people there?

Knowing what I pay for my split season and extra games, plus all my travel costs, I have no complaints about pricing.

Simply, we need a winner. Back in 93 and 94 that place was crowded. And the real bounce always comes the year after - like in 1984 when we outdrew the Cubs although they won a division and we didn't -
