drowninginflame
The parade was amazing, I was out in front of my work @ CBOT and the paper was flying through the air and the streets were completley jammed full of people. The Rally on the other hand was the hardest part of the day, Ive never been so crammed in anywhere. People were getting pissed, I really wish they coulda done it in grant park for space reasons. and you couldn't hear a thing and paulie got a ton of cheers, the mosty with people chanting 5 more years and pay him! it was cool but cramped. BigEdWalsh
http://cbs2chicago.com/video/[email protected] There's lots of video here but I thought the one with the South Side school children along the parade route was so special. It's on the second page now, I believe. Really NEAT. The parade was cool. Like Texsox said in the official parade thread, I feel real homesick watching this stuff. But thankgoodness, I'm at least able to watch it.

I went to one of the Bulls rallies (after they beat Phoenix). Even at Grant Park, we couldn't see anything, but it was very cool being there. jenksd
A part that stuck out were the construction workers working and waving as the Soxmobiles drove by on the highway. It might have been contrived, but it stuck out to me as a symbol of what the Southside and Sox are about.
The Critic
The part of the motorcade I saw was great. We were right where the trolleys stopped before turning onto LaSalle. Yelled some stuff to AJ and Bobby. The rally was s***. Couldn't get anywhere near it, couldn't see or hear a thing. The only thing I saw was a bunch of dips***s climbing on the Trio Video truck. I'd give the entire deal a B-.

I took days off for the games or the days after the games, I was NOT burning one for a pep rally.

Why couldn't they tap into that line when they started talking. Also the screen they had up was too low as well. If you were close enough to watch the screen then you were close enough to see the stage. It needed to be way up there so everyone can see it. Hey f*** it though...I was just at a WHITE SOX WORLD SERIES RALLY!!!!!!!!!
Flash Tizzle
I feel sorry for all of you who didn't have the opportunity to either watch the motorcade or attend the celebration on LaSalle street. It was amazing. I had an awesome vantage point of the motorcade when it rode down Harrison past UIC. One negative, although it certaintly isn't significant, is they were traveling very quickly down the street. And it's understandable with the amount of neighborhoods they had to cover. It's funny--several people standing next to me didn't even know what sport the White Sox played. The rally on LaSalle was equally impressive. From Canal to LaSalle Street you couldn't walk five feet without encountering someone wearing White Sox apparel. Once you reached LaSalle, the streets were littered with confetti clippings. When you approach the main stage off the Chicago River, it was nearly impossible to get within 200 feet of the area. It was packed beyond comprehension. I wouldn't doubt any figures if it was estimated 100,000 filled the small area. People were standing ontop of any structure which could elevate their view--including bus stops and even porter potties. Yes, some kids were sitting on, and sinking in the roof, of the porter potties while people were going inside. I couldn't hear much of the players comments until I moved forward through the crowd. Hawk stood out above everyone else, as far as projecting his voice. Ozzie had the loudest ovation of the evening once he announced his return to manage next season. Possibly the cheesiest moment was when the lead singer of Journey sung his tune at closing minutes of the celebration. I hate that f***ing guy and hope we never have to see or hear from him again. Nice firework display almost made up for Perry ruining my afternoon. When the players re-boarded their trolleys for the Cell I had a great view. Buehlre came up to the fans inciting them to yell and they began cheering wildly. Frank, AJ, Guillen, and especially Konerko were the recepients of several chants from the hordes of fans near my section. When they began chanting for Konerko to resign, Williams--who was sitting right behind him, smiled and began raising his hands for us to continue chanting. When they were close to leaving, Konerko wrote a note on paper which simply said, "THANK YOU." Class act that guy is. Although I'm exhausted from standing on my toes for nearly an hour, it was well worth it. Edited October 28, 2005 by Flash Tizzle
Greg Hibbard
It was not 100,000 people. Tens of thousands, yes. Probably 20-30k.

It certaintly appears like 100,000 when you're in the middle of a crowd which extends beyond your vision. Either way, they were rowdy and it was a good experience. This picture alone would appear to be 10,000-15,000. And this is just half the front view (which extended further back) and none of the side vantage points. Wanne
So many great moments during the rally...but I gotta tell ya...when I got the most pumped is when Paulie mentioned doing it next year! I know it doesn't mean squat right now...but to me...it was a small signal (and maybe I'm grasping at straws here)...that Paulie WANTS to be back next year!!!! Also...when Paulie said that...KW started pointing at him saying something (wish I knew what)! Come on Kenny...get it done!!!

nitetrain8601
A+++++++ experience. Me and other UIC students lined up on Harrison and went nuts. Then after they passed, almost everyone bumrushed the blue line so we could meet them at LaSalle. Greatest party ever. There was this one prick wearing nothing but Cubs garb though and taunting everyone.
Nokona
We got to Lasalle and Wacker around 9: 30 and were right across from the camera guy over the crowd. Absolutely incredible time. Seeing all the players and the looks on their faces were priceless. Bobby Jenks stuck out in my mind when the double decker stopped and we chanted "Bobby! Bobby!" he seemed to be almost taken aback at the whole scene. The people in front of us were the first to break the barriers and get out into the street until Chicago's finest stopped them. They turned around and it seemed like millions of people were coming down Lasalle. The cops just turned and high tailed it out yelling "LET EM THROUGH THEY'RE COMING!" It was great. Too bad the sound failed, we left right after the whole month-by-month recap because we just couldn't hear anything at all. Then it got a little ugly, some drunks attempted to ruin it and people started getting crushed but nothing too serious. My aunt had a little trouble being claustrophobic but meh...we made it. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Greg The Bull Luzinski
I has under the Lon Lake and Laselle in one of the more amusing moments ... I believe that I was the Laselle Bank moving billboard truck that got smashed under the bridge as the bridge clearance was too low. Everybody around me s*** their pants at the loud crash. I thought it was hilarious. Anybody else see that?

chisox72
I just got home from the thing. I gotta say, fun times were had by all. I was on the corner of LaSalle and Lake, Southeast side, so we had a great vantage point right before they had to slow to go under the tracks. I took some awesome pictures, including the one that is my new avatar. After that, we followed the hordes down the street closer to the stage, only to not hear or be able to see a damn thing. Knowing that I was copying this whole thing on DVD, we left and went to Redfish for a beer and some food. Standing on our feet for three hours was enough. Thanks to the city though, it was fun to get together with the masses and cheer them on once again. Seeing the players beaming from ear to ear and encouraging the fans was worth the price of admission itself. Props to the surrounding buildings on LaSalle too, as it was fun to see all of the signs and stuff in the windows. What was also comical is my picture of the LaSalle Bank float being decapitiated by the train overpass, I will have to post that soon. That, and watching them tug on Jenks to tell him to sit down before he was tore in half going under that thing. This was certainly a fun way to cap off an incredible thrill ride that I am NOT READY TO GIVE UP!!! No more baseball for a few months, what the hell am I am going to do?!?!?! chisoxfan14
I got there at 8:30!!!! I had a absolutly great spot!!! I was standing at the corner right by the stage! umm under the clock/temp box thing that hangs from the building! there were like 6 rows i'd say of people in front of me! So i was really close! I was so lucky to have been standing next to one of the railing things, cuz i got to stand/sit on that! And i was higher then everyone else! So it was wonderful! My plan..was to video them going by on the buses..and I did! But I was just holding my camera in the air hopeing that i got the players on it! Know myself right, i shouldn't have done that cuz, yea that didnt' work, i got some players! And when i saw Willie on the bus! I kinda just lost it!! But yea, then we all squeezed up to the front..so i was in front of the stage! I wish i could have been a little closer! you knwo it really sucks being 5'2! I couldnt' see much, besides looking inbetween people to see the screen or going on my tipetoes to see the stage! So I got some decent pictures! Some are excelent!! Of Wilie and Ozney next to each other!! Oh OH OH! and how ironic..is it that The 1st person Hawk calls to the mic...oh oh oh WILLIE HARRIS..and i kinda died at that point! I was crying! i don't knwo what Willie said..or did..i was trying to get a picture but that didn't work to well! i didn't know where the podium was to the rest of the stage so i didn't knwo where to point my camera! I kinda just stuck it in the air hoping to get something! and that sorta worked! So yea, i saw my William up there! Then at the end when Hawk was like i'd like to call Ozzie Jr. Oney and Ozney up here..I was like WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!! the guy in front of me was kinda looking at me funny..like it's just ozzie's kids! haha! I couldn't believe he did that! Ozney looked absolutly amazing up there! And Oney was videotaping it all! and when Perry was up there singing with A.J, and Aaron, and Mark, and Joe, i was crying cuz it was sooo cute!! and Ozzie was like i dont' knwo the words! lol! So i'm watching the replay of it nowOMG!! Willie was like GROUPPPPPPPPPP 4!!!!! He's the leader of that! hehe! I lvoe him to death! And Pauleee had little Nicholas up there! HOw cute was that! ok i think that's enough! hehe! GO WHITE SOX! Ok here are some of my pictures! mostly before the stage..i'll get you those later.. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery...866&uid=3611291
