aboz56
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) we'd much rather see articles praising them for their time with the Sox instead of the basic smear campaign that happened with Ordonez and CLee last year. They both deserved it. PK and Frank do not. And never will.
fathom
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) They both deserved it. PK and Frank do not. And never will. Sometimes it's better to be the bigger man, and just thank the players for their service with the organization. Ordonez and Lee were two of the best offensive players in Sox history. I don't think I was the only one disappointed in how the Sox seemed to take the scorned lover approach last offseason in regards to those guys. Chisoxrd5
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) They both deserved it. PK and Frank do not. And never will. The media has long painted an incorrect picture of Frank to the general public. It's gone on for such a long time no one even notices anymore. The casual sox fan has no idea who the real Frank Thomas is because of some of the garbage that has been written about him in the past 10 plus years. Carlos Lee did nothing to help the team when he was hear from what I've heard. Ordonez handled his contract situation in one of the shadiest and non-ethical displays I have ever seen. They both had it coming to them.
aboz56
By the way, how'd that trade work out for you Milwaukee? We got a ring, you're stuck with a jackass!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll take that kind of output anyday.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) No, it didn't. But it did open the door for posters here to s*** on him when things got rough for him earlier this season. Yeah, who would do such a thing? I think were due for another noob to start a thread on who got the better of the Carlos Lee and Scott Podsednik trade. Texsox
If only the Brewers kept Pods, then they would have won the WS Amazing the ex-player bashing that goes on. I figured since Lee didn't leave via free agency, there would have been less venom :headshake I can't wait to find out what a greedy bastard Konerko is and how it will suck for him in LA, NY, or elsewhere

Anaheim would make a lot of sense for him. Its closer to home and they have a solid team around him...not sure why I feel like I have to explain myself, but I don't appreciate assumptions like this directed near my proximity. Punch and Judy Garland
I know its amazing. Lee didn't even leave via Free agency, we traded him and yet people love to trash him. I think there is a fickleness here that is, while not unique to sox fans, resembling the types of fans that they have in NY, Boston, and Philly. Those are the same groups of fans that this board is always trashing and wnating to not be like. I think we are closer to being like them than we are like fans of Minnesota or cleveland. iWiN4PreP
Good for lee - Im happy he did well in his new home. Good for us, im happy we got him off our team and now have rings to show. This is a 2-way thing here. Both ways worked out for the better. =)

Steve9347
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) By the way, how'd that trade work out for you Milwaukee? We got a ring, you're stuck with a jackass!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll take that kind of output anyday. I dont think Milwaukee is regretting the trade. they got the solid slugger they needed from the right side to compliment Favre's twin, Jenkins, and we got our speedster. Believe me, Milwaukee had no World Series aspirations last year, and I am sure they are happy with El Caballo. They are built for the future, and Lee fits right in. Say what you want about him, but Lee produced this year. That being said, I'm glad we traded him because it helped our team... but I KNOW that Milwaukee does not regret aquiring Lee. He is their main man on offense.
The Critic
Like Steve said: I also think the Brewers are more than happy with Carlos. It's not like keeping Pods and Viz was going to get them to the Series. They got a VERY good power hitter who has grown into an adequate-to-good left fielder. Congrats to CLee on his Silver Slugger Award!
Z38
This was a perfect trade neither team missed the players they lost. Sox obviously won the WS and Pods was a catalyst for the offense. I think the thing that gets overlooked is that the Breweres replaced Pods with a player that had a better year than him by tons, check out Brady Clark's stats from this year... very nice. Plus they added a slugger that enjoys to smack around on a division rival of theirs
GoodAsGould
Yeah that article is bogus..... It could be true but at the same time it can be greatly over-exagerated..... for all we know clee was just doing a little joking around... You really think Ozzie would let Clee make fun of Marte's upbringing... no ozzie would of slapped the s*** out of Clee if that happened. Remember the article about Ozzie making a racist or some comment earlier.... i bet it was something like that.... unless you actually know someone in the clubhouse that can verify that article is true.... its utter bs. Congrats to CLee on his Silver Slugger Award! This all goes back to KW's trading philosophy of 'giving up something to get something.' He's always been about fair trading, which ups his dealing equity in the league. Both sides are happy, CLee and his Silver Slugger, us with our Championship bling. Mutual success. Yea. It's true. In '04 Lee used to talk s*** to Marte between innings when he went down for smoke breaks in between innings. It was not a very well kept secret.
