Guest hotsoxchick1
From Today's Sun-Times Colon facing 5-game suspension May 17, 2003 MINNEAPOLIS--If the American League uses an earlier incident between the Twins and the Devil Rays as precedent, the White Sox' Bartolo Colon likely will be facing a five-game suspension. Colon and manager Jerry Manuel were ejected in the ninth inning of Thursday night's game against the Baltimore Orioles after Colon hit Jerry Hairston Jr. with a pitch. The move appeared to be in retaliation after Magglio Ordonez was hit in the previous half inning. Ordonez, who also hit by the Orioles in Wednesday's game, had a game-breaking bases-clearing triple an inning before Jorge Julio hit him with pitch. A similar retaliation incident happened between the Twins and Devil Rays on April 30. After the Twins' Bobby Kielty and Tom Prince were hit in the first two innings, Doug Mientkiewicz had ball four thrown behind his head. The Twins' Brad Radke hit the Devil Rays' Toby Hall with a pitch a half inning later and was ejected. Radke was given a five- game suspension which he likely will begin serving today. Radke's suspension won't impact the Twins much. Instead of making his next start on four days rest, it will be on five meaning his next start simply will be pushed back a game. The Twins learned of Radke's suspension two days after the incident. A Colon suspension could be announced this weekend or when the Major League Baseball offices open Monday. whitesox247
Its not official yet, right? The one good thing about suspensions to pitchers is that they technically only miss 1 start, and they can make up for it right after their suspension ends. Perhaps, but why shouldn't Julio Jorge get a suspension? There was no way that pitch just "got away" from him. You shouldn't be pitching in the major leagues if your control is that bad. The Sox have just been screwed over by a lot of people in different positions in the MLB this year. First of course is the Media (as always) second are these bull s*** umpires, and now the American League office is tryin to f*** us over so we get knocked out of the race nice and early? Hell I say f*** em all! CWSOX45
