The Critic
The OT was worth the price of admission alone! The Flyers were ALL OVER the Penguins' net, Fleury was tremendous in holding them off. With less than a minute left in OT, the Flyers are swarming the Pens' net yet again. Then suddenly, Sidney Crosby takes a breakout pass at center ice and goes in all alone. BANG, it's in the back of the net if you're lookin' for it! Penguins win in OT 3-2, Crosby with 2 goals on the night. Looks like the kid can play a little bit, huh....
IlliniKrush
I watched the entire game and came away very satisfied. Crosby is just a stud, he had so many sweet passes tonight. As soon as he got the breakway in overtime i picked up the remote to change the channel. Game set match.
Pauly8509CWS
That was a great game from start to finish, however, yesterday's Caps/ Lightning game was just as good, and the game tying and game winning goals by Ovechkin were outstanding. He's hands down the rookie of the year, no questions. He's overshadowed by Crosby and "the Next One" status that he's quietly becoming a superstar. IlliniKrush
I didn't catch that game yesterday because i had class and practice, but i did see the highlights. Ovechkin's backhand was nasty. You're right, he's the front-runner right now. But you can't go wrong with Ovechkin or Crosby. I'm loving the NHL right now - at least what i can see of it with OLN and some highlights. The young guns are taking over, i love it.

I've got tix to about six-seven more games this year (already), and there's always the student discount. Maybe the Pens game, or is it already sold out? A Wings game would be ideal, but I dunno about the ticket availability. BTW -- I think I've seen as many Pens game on Centre Ice as Hawks games. I can watch Crosby play all day... DBAHO
Just wait until Evgeni Malkin joins the Pens. Him and Crosby are going to be a NASTY duo to face.

Over Christmas break i'll be at a lot of games as i won't have much else to do. 2 years ago i actually went to every single game (8-9 games) over break, i was that bored. I'll also be taking some trips up with some hockey guys on friday and sunday nights for games - they have a lot of home games in january and march. I just got out to my first game last Friday vs the Kings. $8 tickets are for sure money. I have Pens tickets already. I don't know if it's sold out or not though. Let's try to set something up over break, if not a few games. And yeah, i wish i had center ice, but that's not really possible right now in Champaign. Thank God i at least have OLN on the sports package.
CWSGuy406
When does your guys' winter break begin? I have tickets for the Preds on the 21st -- not exactly an elite game, but a divisional 'rival' nonetheless. I actually found two seats for the game on the 23rd against Detroit -- apparently they haven't sold out yet. Let me know, I'm sure even if they do sell that game out before we grab tix, we could find some on StubHub or whatever.
IlliniKrush
I'll be home from Sun Dec 18 til about Sun Jan 15. 21st i definitely can't go, i'll be in St Louis for the Busch Braggin' Rights game. redandwhite
that game was awesome. i thought i was the only one who watched OLN's broadcast, and it really started to bother me that the NHL was going to be playing second fiddle to even real world re-runs. come on hockey fans. RockRaines
I just wish the hawks would field a competitive team one of these years. Im getting sick of writing them off.

We're here, we're here...we're hard to find but we do exist What have you guys thought of OLN's coverage? Honestly, it's better than i thought it would be - i had low expectations going in. They seem to have a nice picture, and i love emrick, but that's just me. Also, during the first 1-2 games they covered, the main camera angle was zoomed in way too far and they had trouble following the play sometimes. I think now that these OLN camera guys have some experience following hockey it's been a better broadcast. I'm glad i can get 2 games a week outside of the Hawks right now. CWSGuy406
QUOTE(AirScott @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) just a wee bit early to be handing out awards... How much do you want to bet that one of Ovechkin or Crosby win the ROTY (Calder)? These guys are two of the better forwards in the league, much less rookies... W/r/t OLN, they have a decent enough picture, and really, that's all I care about. I tend to zone out the announcers (I don't know why), but when I have listened to them, they've been okay. If you can see a game on OLN in HD, I recommend it -- I'd have to say that hockey is the best sport to watch on a HiDef TV.
