qwerty
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) this is NOT a Kids Movie. It is an action Movie. Spy kids wasn't a kids movie either...
Pierzynski 12
I'm going to see it tonight at 8:45 at century theaters. I'm so f***ing excitited. I love the casting of Ralph Fiennes as voldemort. Great Bad Guy Actor. It's PG-13 so it should be darker than the other ones and should much more of an action flick. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aren't you a little old for Harry Potter? Soxy
QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) People of all ages read these books... so i would say no he isn't. Plus there are a lot of clever jokes (I love all the latin names and spells). And I think the last 3 books (so far) have been far more "adult" in content than children's books. farmteam
I definitely thought it was the best movie. Two scenes that really got me: 1) The Death Eaters appearance at the Cup was absolutely terrifying. You get an instant KKK mental image, but even worse. That scene was amazing. 2) I liked the entrances of the other schools into the Great Hall. Durmstrang's was just cool, BeauxBatons' was funny. The only part where I saw anything not completely satisfactory was at the end, and even that was still fine. In the book, Voldemort came off very cold and calculating, with a little maniacal thrown in. Here, it would switch off--sometimes more sinister less maniacal and sometimes more maniacal less sinister, but usually the latter. He was TOO maniacal. Reddy
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) I actually heard people came away unsatisfied, due to a lot of details being left out. I find that pretty shallow, personally...you try keeping a movie under 5 hours and getting even 75% of the scenes of a 734 page book. It would not be easy. I lost my interest in Harry Potter after a while...it just became to childish for me, to be quite honest. But I did read books 1-4, and I loved them. childish my ass. up till 4 i guess you could say that. but 5 and 6 are downright dark and i dont know HOW they'll be rated lower than R in theatres. Lots of death and destruction and they're clever and funny as well. not kids stories AT ALL.

Rowling has said numerous times that she didn't intend the books to be kids' books, and the last couple books have shown that. As for the movie, I just saw it. I really liked it. I went in knowing a lot was cut out, so it didn't really bother me. Definitely one of the best movies. And I thought the ending was great. A lot like I pictured it when I read it. knightni
The first movie/book was for kids (kind of). They get more and more mature as the kids grow up. Right now, they are on the border between Afterschool Special and Lifetime.
