sircaffey
We hate Boras because he drives prices up of our favorite players who then in turn become to expensive to keep on our favorite teams. It's not the same thing as Dell selling computers. If Dell monopolized the market of computers and drove the prices up then you would hate them. Boras holds the product we want (Crede), and will drive the price up on him.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE(timotime @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) you are like the kid in high school who hates the assistant principle, the one that is the disciplinarian. if that guy is gone, another will fill his shoes and do the same thing. welcome to reality. its the same thing with boras- if all his clients were to fire him, there would be some other aggressive agent who would pick all those clients up. so no, i dont follow, because thats the way business works in a capitalist society, regardless of what industry you are in. (i did not see your edit until i posted this) I think it's pretty ridiculous that you don't understand why everyone hates Boras.
LDF
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) I think it's pretty ridiculous that you don't understand why everyone hates Boras. i don't know which this reply is going to make me look, but i will say this, i hate bor-ass. 1. as the business side goes, i guess if a player needs to max a deal without regards to loyalty to anyone or any team, he is the man. 2. it is not bor-ass fault that stupid teams are willing to pony up to get his clients. 3. how many teams are now trying to unload and get rid of those same clients, tex, fla, arz, ummm sCrubs but they got burn from him. those players never fulfill potential...... hehehe 4. in the beginning he toyed with the sox and then pulled his client to another team, leaving the sox high and dry. (alex fernadez and a few other fa's) as a homer, i hope all his clients never pans out which leave their perspective teams high and dry. timotime
I think it's pretty ridiculous that you don't understand why everyone hates Boras. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> then why doesnt everyone just save themselves the trouble of hating a single agent (boras) and hate every one of them, since every agent will do what boras does to maximize the cut of the contract they make. they are lawyers...need i saw more? and it is the same thing as dell, whoever refuted that, since you know, undeniably, that dell or any other company in any other industry will always try to dominate the market and drive up prices. walmart does it in small towns all across the country, microsoft has done it with windows products, entertainment companies do it all the time (how many times have record companies been caught? more than i can count), even our own team does it, in effect, by raising prices after a world championship. you all can hate and hate and b**** and b****, but unless you prefer socialism and love cuba and you want to move there, thats the way western society works. thats all i'm saying. i should also note that i am a huge hypocrit and i catch myself hating things and people all the time for reasons like this. im just being objective, i guess. AddisonStSox
Yeah, I actually posted, "when are you going to come out of the Aidan/Jabroni closet?" He PM'ed me back saying he had no idea what I was talking about. It's really obvious. I'm suprised he's lasted this long. It took a little longer, but, sure enough, this account is also a rash all over Soxtalk. EDIT: Point of clarification: coming back under another name is against board rules, is it not? Yeah, this Jabroni is much more enjoyable sans personal attacks. Posting style is nearly identical, though. I think the only x-factor is not having 7000 posts by this time--that would have been a dead give-away.

RockRaines
QUOTE(timotime @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) so hes the most hated man on soxtalk because he gets good $ for his clients. sounds like some people on here are unappreciative of someone being good at their job. i could hate dell for selling the most computers, but i dont, because its business, and they're damn good at it, otherwise they wouldnt be #1 in the industry. its exactly the same thing. You are like the guy who knows nothing about baseball trying to equate your life with that of professional sports. He not only gets his client overvalued contracts, but because of his hamstringing ways, he makes the sport even more polar in its spending and talents levels, and makes talented players not available to teams with out the deepest pockets. This is not success, it is one of the main weaknesses of baseball. The polarity in the spending is driven by Free Agency, and Boras is one of the main violaters. In any business job there needs to be ethics-driven people who will keep the playing field level, and will operate within the realm of good business. Scott Boras is the person who does not adhere to these rules, and makes hte environment worse for the rest of the baseball and professional sports world. Defening him makes you look moronic, in the business sense, and the human being sense.

The problem with Boras is his lack of ethics. He lies, hides information and breaks his word. For documentation look at his dealings with Texas on the ARod deal (lied about other clubs offers), the whole Magglio situation (hid information on his injury) and backing away from an ARod deal he verbally agreed to with the White Sox (broke his word). While none of these is a crime, they are over the line of honorable dealing among honest men. A funny thing about him is JR describes him as good agent until the player hits free agency, then he becomes impossible to reason with or believe.
