Mplssoxfan
QUOTE(Mercy! @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) Until the first really big snowfall that people don't clear from the sidewalks. I'm a walker, too. Except that we got 4-5 inches of the white stuff today. And it was damn cold yesterday.
Texsox
We're at $1.86 most places, with diesel still around $2.

Balta1701
Since this thread was about whether or not this year's gas prices might hurt the Christmas season...I think the First bits of data may be relevant. Black Friday was slightly down this year despite higher discounts. WalMart discounted more this year than last, so it's not surprising that they were up. It is worrisome that even with an increase at Walmart, the rest of the stores were down overall. The official holiday shopping season appears to have gotten off to a lukewarm start, said a national research group that monitors retail sales. Wal-Mart was a bright spot, reporting that sales exceeded expectations. ShopperTrak RCT Corp., which tracks total sales at about 45,000 retail outlets, said overall sales Friday were relatively unchanged compared with a year ago, despite heavier discounting and expanded hours that drew a surge of shoppers in the early morning. The Chicago-based research group reported total sales at $8 billion, down 0.9% from a year ago.
EvilMonkey
NOt sure on the data they used to describe 'heavier discounts', but after my wife, sister-in-law and mother-in-law all went out Friday, they each thought the pricing was not as deep as last year. I just looked at the ads online, and I also didn't notice anything that stood out to me except for the sub-$400 laptop.
